I have an 03 600rr track bike. I was at VIR yesterday. At the end of every session when I would come into the pits the bike would shut off on me when I was @ 0 throttle. I would restart it and the only way to keep it running was to give it gas. I had a fully charged battery and I even change the battery out with a new one and it did the same thing. Between sessions I would put the chatger on the battery. It seemed after the bike sat between sessions that when I started it to go back out that it would stay running for a few mins then when I was waiting on pit road to go back out it wanted to shut off. Any Ideas? Im thinking rectafire regulater.

if it was R/R it wouldn't start back up until after a charge, though you're welcome to test it.

after a charge, test battery voltage in the bike. Then test the voltage with the engine idling. then check the voltage with the high beam on (i realize this may not be possible) and the engine at 5000 RPM. At each testing stage after stage 1 there should be an increase in voltage, but it should not exceed 15.5 volts. if the voltage reads no higher than standing voltage, proceed to check the resistance between Stator windings. they should be no more than 1 Ohm and no less than .1 Ohm.

I have an 05 with the same problem. I don't ride it at the track but when i come to an intersection on the street, i have to keep the throttle open a little bit or it dies. I thought it might have been the plugs so i changed em out, but that didn't solve the problem. In the course of working on it i turned the high beams on and it made the problem stop so now i am assuming it is an electrical issue. When i would have the low beams on it would jump up and down between 300 and 1500 rpm before it would eventually die, but if i turn the high beams on it levels out at around 1400 rpm. If anyone has any ideas i would appreciate them.

Check he simple things first - did the idle speed adjuster pop off the hose it's attached to? Did you get bad gas by chance (or old gas)?
