I have a 2000 Chevy Silverado 4x4 1500, and yesterday one of my caliper bracket bolts decided to jump out. Needless to say it's Saturday, no parts stores carry this bolt, I can't find a junkyard that's open, and the place I know that carries the bolt is closed till Monday.

My question is, the bolt that's missing is a metric grade 10.9, does anyone know if a metric grade 8.8 bolt will hold up in a caliper bracket? The bolt size is M14-2.00-50 if that info is needed. I know Lowe's, Home Depot, and other home improvement stores carry the bolt in a 8.8.

At that length and in such a critical position I would recommend not.

It can be used in a pinch as temporary stay and you'll most likely be safe as the systems are built much higher than technically rated for but it would be something you wanted to get changed asap.

Use it as an excuse to ride!
