So i bought a spare engine off some dude. The engine is in excellent condition and has 8000 miles.

The reason i bought the engine is because my '97 F3 has a crap load of miles, approx. 42,000, and is beginning to make a knocking noise when she's under load.

The guy i bought it from only wanted $300 for it, so i said why not.

My question to y'all is, should i do anything to the engine before i store it?

And, how long does an engine swap like this take a good mechanic?

Thanks,

joe

a good mechanic should be done in an afternoon depending how much he drinks and a weekend if you do it with your friends and a couple cases.

i've seen an engine swap done in 1 hour.

with the help of about 10 very motivated people who needed a new engine for a privateer rider. it was on SuperBikes IIRC. Racer blew his during qualification or something, dude took the motor out of his stunt bike and swapped it just before the race started. i think this was the same guy who had a broken hand...
