Hey

Just wondering if anyone else experiences this. Im a road and occasional track day rider, trying to make it more track than road but yeah working on it as track days are kak expensive here... Anyway my brakes always seem to go off pretty quick, just wondering if its a common problem for 08 600RR's or if its time for braded hosing. I did like a 20 minutes session this weekend and after i could pull my lever all the way to the handle bar and its on setting 2, 1 notch away from as far out as it can go. Seems to be getting worse the more i ride, not sure if im more on the brakes, i would have thought i was in fact less on the brakes now... oh ja and the front when hot makes like a squeeking noise when i brake...

I would have thought they had put the proper brake fluid in when they assembled the bike and serviced it etc. That noise is rather weird though.... Funny enough I heard another black CBR same model as mine making the same noise on the front brakes LOL... Will give it a try this weekend.

Rear brakes fading? On the road or track? That as far as I know shouldnt happen, in fact i dont think you should be using your rear brakes so much that they fade?

i stunt. so i use rear brake a good bit. and lately it feels like its not even working...i can normally lock the back tire without much effort, but last nite i felt like it was barely slowing me down

Oh i see.... Hmmm sounds weird, maybe an air bubble has formed and you just need to bleed the hose or time for new sanitary brake pads?

If the pads are worn and/or glazed they will do that. Shouldn't be the fluid on an 08.

i ditched the stocker pads the first time i got the annoying squeek and the slight fade. i'm currently running galfer pads, goodridge SS lines, and galfer racing fluid. i have my lever set at the closest setting and have no fade issues. no street riding, track only and i'm very hard on the brakes

have you bled them at all? dealers can be less-than-satisfactory when it comes to bleeding brakes on new bikes.

OP, if your serious about riding the track you can do a number of things to improve the brakes.

SS lines , New Pads (Vesrah RJL pads rock) and a better fluid, Motul RBF600 is good stuff. Doing all that will give you better brakes with a better feel and should elimnate any brake fade.

Stock brakes are good stuff but for pushing it on the track you can do better for a few hundred bucks...

As far as Bleeding go's Bleed them out, (Good time to change to a better fluid) and then pump the lever till it gets good and firm, then zip tie the lever to the bar as tight as you can.. Come back the next day and hold the lever when your cutting the tie.. One or two quick pumps and your good..

Do you close the brake fluid reservoir overnight to not allow contaminants in while it is zip tied? I've only used the small pumping method and not the actual tie overnight. Gonna try the zip tie method but don't want to leave the cap off of course.

Leave the cap on... Leaving it under pressure and zip tied lets any air bubbles rise into the res where they don't matter...

Ditto on what Wes said.
Additionally: Check how much your pads are worn. There's a rule of thumb that pads that are worn more than about 50% will affect the brake fluid negatively (i.e. heat it up, leading to brake fade) because thermal insulation properties get worse the thinner the pad.
