After a 25 km ordinary ride to work, checked the bike around before getting on to the ride home. Found a piece of long rubber like part hanging off under the swing arm area. Turns out that the bottom part of the chain slider has broken off but somehow mahaged to hang on.

tried putting it back to getter with superglue but wont hold as the rubber has become brittle and it had cracks in one too many places. Ordered an OEM from Japan (Around 30 USD with shipping).

Anyone has an idea as to why it broke? and any tips on replacing it?

Thanks in advance! :)

Urbane, Thanks for the reply.
I didn't hear anything unusual during the ride (probably the bike is too loud anyway :) . The slider was broken off near the front sprocket. the lower half was copletely broken off. The two tabs which should hold it has also broken.
I did have a cluch jolt, so I thought the chain might have hit it the bottom part and checked the chain looseness, but it was within spec with my rider load.
Puzzling, but glad its only a small fix,
But dont want to ride with only the upper slider part. have to wait a while :(
