Wondering what some good brands are? whether I should just stick with the OEM or get something stickier? I actually dont mind doing some cold weather riding, but I want something that will grip when heated. Any thoughts?

How many miles do you ride in a month/can you afford a new set every month?

Pilot Powers are probably the most popular on the site and that's what I use. I get decent mileage out of mine and I can no where near push their limit. I think I got over 6k with my rear Pilot Power.

Thanx for the input guys. I mostly ride around town, some highway, and I will take a 2 hour ride through twisty roads every now and then. I've been caught in the rain several times including last night. I guess I kind of need an good all-around tire.

If you don't think you need the latest greatest DOT road race tire, the Metzler MZ6 is a great tire that will net around 9 to 10,000 miles. It's great in the rain, cold and it sticks very well.

Best tire I have had in the rain, bar none. I ride in WA state, it rains 3/4 of the year here and I am more then happy with these.

I'm using the Z6's also and got over 10k out of the last set I used, and they work fine for whatever kind of riding you do. I do most of my riding in the hill country around here (twisties and backroads) and commuting to and from school.
