Need some assistance with freshly purchased CBR 600rr 2006, Block swap

I have just purchased my first bike a 2006 CBR 600RR. I bought it rather inexpensive due to the block having a hole in between the stator housing and the block. The bike turns on and runs fine, but leaks oil quickly. It only has 5k on the engine. I just purchased a bare 2006 CBR 600rr block and new stator housing. I am considering swapping over the internals myself. Not quite sure if its a good idea to swap the internals and use the same bearings since they are worn together and have under 6k on them, or if I should just take the blocks to a reputable shop and have them put the block together with new bearings.

The bike was dropped at 15 mph while going over a speed bump by the previous owner :banghead: and the stator housing made impact on a cement curb which chipped the housing and the edge of the aluminum block. I have not inspected the internals carefully on the block yet. The bike turned off upon impact and has not been turned on since so there may not be any shavings in the bearings. I will start removing the old engine tomorrow and inspect the bearings.

Any intelligent feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks ahead of time.

sometimes block housings are not within exact spec of ea other. if you swap all the internals you may run into an issue over time with main bearing/crank wear etc.. if you do it id plasti gauge it all and use new bearings not the old ones. then you may be ok but make sure the new block is without bearing issues

download a service manual if you want to work on swapping the internals yourself, also every crankcase is different as it will have different bearing codes stamped for every main & conrod journals, reusing the old main bearings with a new crankcase & crankshaft will throw the oil clearances out of spec & you will end up with an engine that is starved for oil or a seized bearing.

also you cannot reuse the old conrod & main crankshaft bolts as they are 1 time use only (bolts are torque to yield), they aren't that expensive & cost $2 each.

another thing to consider is to have the hole in the crankcase welded then file it down flat to the surface, can you post a pic of the damage?

Swapping internals is actually not the best thing tough.
my engine had the same; a crack on the bottom end between the stator housing and bottom end. but I took the whole engine out to rebuild it anyway with performance parts and welded the part that was cracked.

Don't know how your crack in your bottom end of your engine looks like but if its reachable I would say Weld it

Thanks for all the feedback! Its been a while, however I just got the time to start working on the CBR. Yesturday I removed the oil pan and valve cover to inspect. I found a piece of aluminum inside the oil pan which is definitely alarming! Everything is intact, the engine looks brand new internally. I am hoping this piece came from somewhere within the stator housing. I was unable to locate where this piece came from yet. I took pictues which ill be posting later on today in hopes someone else can identify where it came from. I had someone come by yesturday that specializes in aluminum welding and they did state they could fix the damage. I am hoping the block is good to give him the go ahead. Detailed pictures will be uploaded as soon as possible. Thanks ahead of time for any helpful info
