I couldn't pass up a good deal on a leftover 2003 600rr and picked one up from the dealership today. It's cold as hell here and I won't be getting any riding in for a few months. My previous bike is a '99 F4 and I'm interested to get the thoughts on the bike from any taller riders out there. I'm 6'2" and interested about the size of the bike after surfing the net for information.

I think you'll be fine man... you'll love the bike!
they definitely feel alot different than the f4's...more of a front forward riding position, but I wouldn't have it any other way....I love mine!!!!

im 6' even and the bike fits perfect.. its aggressive stance was more comfortable to me than the r6 or any other rocket, since it bends me over more and stretches me out.. the gixxer was pretty comfy actually, but felt more like a cruiser-comfortable as opposed to how our bikes feel (like a sport bike). but congrats on finding a new bike for a cheap price and oh yea........... welcome to the board

yeah, I've been surfing the net for information on the rr and that's the only real complaint I'm seeing, that it's not particularly comfortable for taller riders, which worries me b/c I don't like getting mangled, but I love my F4. we'll see when it warms up. right now it's sitting in my bro's garage.

If it's a real concern for you, there are aftermarket seats available from Corbin. Sargeant's should have one coming out this year as well.

The seat won't be much of a problem, it's more the position os the clip-ons. A buddy of mine with an RR told me his hands fall asleep sometimes when he's riding, and I know with mine there is a lot of weight on my wrists. So much that I don't really take it for long rides at all.

So you will be fine I'm sure with the seat, but you might want to look into something like Heli-bars. I know I am 8)

It's all about riding position and posture. I have racing clip-ons, which are even more extremely positioned than the OEM bars. However, I never experience hand fatigue and numbness. The key is to squeeze the tank with your knees and use your legs/abdomen to lift the weight from your wrists. Just practice it for a while and your wrists will be eternally grateful.

I'm 6'4" and have no problems. I sold my f4i for the RR and the only noticable difference was riding so close to the tank. Other than that, my legs fit next to the tank a lot better than the r6 or ninjas. Overall, I am really enjoying the RR.

6'2" coming off of a F4i and the only think I noticed is that my legs were further up, almost felt like I was sitting on a stool with my feet up. I think it will take some time to get used to it. I worry about my wrists as well as I broke my left one in 1998 and starts to hurt fairly quickly, never happened on the F4i, hopefully it won't happen on the new toy.

Yeah, it's definitely got a more aggressive feel to the riding position. I got on a buddy's R1 yesterday after picking up my RR and noticed how much longer it felt, although the position on the R1 is more aggressive also and puts some more weight on the wrists than the F4. I'm too big a Honda fan though. I just can't wait for the snow to go so I can get out on it. Regardless of the verdict, this is one of the best bike sites I've been on.
