Recently on my 07 RR I've noticed my chain makes a slapping sound when I'm HARD on the rear brakes. I'm talking a panic stop when a cager decides to occupy the same space I'm in at the same time. Is my chain too loose? Is it shot? Is it too tight? Help! Lol

Ive been having the same problem with my bike but I'm not positive if it is due to a loose chain but it does only seem to happen when my chain is more on the lose side.

bike on stand, spin rear wheel.

chain should come off drive sprocket cleanly, without hopping.

the hopping is caused by sticky (binding ) links.

you can try cleaning, lubing chain.......and if you wish try "physical therepy" on the chain by removing rear wheel and flexing chain.

If hops cannot be removed , it is time for a new chain.

It could be my tire locking up and hopping. If/when it happens again I'll be sure to pay more attention to what the rear tire is doing. Thanks guys!
