I've got a 2005, do only street riding and want to do a 520 conversion-
From the searches I've done, I noticed there are alot of different set-ups as far as gearing goes.. I've come across the http://www.peterverdonedesigns.com/600RRgearing.htm
and want to go with his 15-47-114-520 set up. I just want to make sure what each individual # means.

15=front sprocket
47=rear sprocket
520=type of chain

does the 114 = links in the chain?

Also he states that this is the closest match to the bikes original gearing, speed and power band, does this mean a speedo healer isn't necessary?

I've chosen the following becuase it lets me choose the color of the sprocket and the chain:

Driven sprocket/EK 520 Chain Kit for $190

Good deal or keep looking?

15/47? Wow, thats a lot of gearing, I think a 15/45 is perfect, cant imagine 2 more up in the back....hope youre getting a speedo healer too

i run the ever so popular 15/45 (-1/+2) AFAM/RK GXW and for the streets it really helped the low and mid.
speedo is way off tho, need a speedo healer. Well see how it fares on the track.
it also wheelies alot easier if youre into that sorta thing...

and 114 does mean links on the chain.
Your overall ratio will depend on the track.

Why change if you are just going to street ride?? You are going to loose gas mileage, and speedo is going to be way off. But hey if you got the money go for it. -1 in the front will do just fine with stock chain.

+1 Plus the chain will wear out much faster, requiring both sprockets and chain replacement.

just go with a 525 set up. you'll thank yourself later.
