Unemployment rising to above 10 changed to 8. Millions of people that could not get insurance now have it. People finally noticing the middle shrinking is in part due to 1% not paying their. I will not be voting for a silver spoon corporate raider.

Wow....

I can't wait till everyone doesn't have to think or work anymore and the government can give us our daily rations. We can gather around a camp fire. Hug and sing peace songs. All kids get a trophy and nobody loses cause we are all winners.

Going to the hospital will be like any government ran institution; (DMV, Court house, social security office) costumer service will be the workers top priority. And they will really care about your health. Fast and efficient I'm sure. Sarcasm tone.

A government that can give everything can take it all away. Keep your change...I want my freedom. If we go socialist our nation will fall to a more power country-china lol. I'm scared cause people think like you. I hope not many.

This thread is amusing.

First lets learn how to speak/type proper English.

Also Obamacare is complete ****. I've witnessed such institutions in Germany and Canada. In Canada a friend of the family had to wait 7 years to get an operation done.

I've lived in Germany for the past 2 years. My girlfriend at the time was a German national. She was always at the doctors for a problem in her right leg but they always gave her stuff that never worked or told her it was a different problem. Sometimes the medicine they gave her caused more problems.

Now given Obamacare is probably good for the poor who can't afford healthcare but I do not believe that I should have to give my money for you to be healthy. The only way I would give my money to someone who can't afford health care is if they don't smoke, don't drink, have a job, and are making a continuous attempt to provide for not only themselves but for their family as well. Until some checks and balances can be employed to ensure that Obamacare will be going to people who not only need it but deserve it I will not support it.

I fully believe in the strong surviving and before you say anything the strong does not have to be the economically benefited. There are too many overweight and stupid people in America.

I get disgusted when I go back to the US and see how disgusting people look. I understand that not everyone can be skinny or thin but there is such things as eating healthy and working out.

Eating healthy and working out don't have to cost a lot either. There are TONS of resources online to help people figure out how to eat healthy and take care of themselves on a budget.

Oh and before you go an say "How is a poor person suppose to get online?" Well my good friend, there are things such as public libraries that offer FREE get this FREE memberships and most have access to the internet now adays.

I'm all for helping the less fortunate but first they have to help themselves. Everything cannot be handed to you.

Try looking at the REAL unemployment numbers O.P.

Forget the official 8.2% unemployment rate. Take a hard look instead at what’s known as the U6 rate, which tracks not only those out of work but those who’ve essentially given up looking for work.

That rate stands at about 14.5%, or nearly double the official unemployment rate.

As economists digest the disappointing job numbers released Friday -- just 120,000 jobs added in March, well below expectations -- some say the U6 figure is the data point people should be focused on.

The official figure used by the Labor Department “leaves out a lot of people who’ve just given up,” said Aparna Mathur, a resident scholar and economist at the American Enterprise Institute.

The U6 number is derived from a household survey that includes people who are actually unemployed as well as those who haven’t looked for work in over four weeks, Mathur explained.

“If you’re unemployed and you haven’t been looking for work in the previous four weeks than you’re not considered part of the official unemployed,” she said. The U6 rate, meanwhile, “includes all of those people who are too discouraged to look for work.”

The 120,000 jobs added in March was the smallest increase since October and effectively killed momentum that had been growing in the labor markets since late last year. Forecasts had predicted nonfarm unemployment to rise by 203,000. The economy had added more than 200,000 jobs in each of the past two months.

Also, The 1% pay 34% of all federal income taxes.

Very well stated, I did not know about the U6 data. I will have to look into this more.

Obama, HAHAHAHA. People on welfare LOVE him, they must be right. The national dept has us in a SERIOUS crisis, and he has added more to it than any previous president. His stimulus plans have FAILED miserably. Go ahead and keep looking at this with your eyes closed, I'm sure you'll be fine.

I read today that applications for unemployment are at an all time high...it's definitely been a change...change for the worse.

I agree that people should work out and eat healthy and do preventative health care, but I'm not seeing that changing in anytime soon. Soda and big macs are so cheap and us America's love our hamburgers. Scared for this country. We need much prayer or we better all enroll in Chinese classes now.

To those that stuck with the socialism or China arguments, those are the bullying, slippery slope, straw man tactics I see so rampant these days. It is exactly what me to post. I like Obama because through hard work, he went from a lower income household to president. As a president I do not agree with everything he does, but believe he is currently the best option. Romney firing people and moving jobs oversees to revive a company show his business acumen, but I do not want those policies in the white house.

Boehler, we could debate the health care law endlessly, but I'll limit this to my point of view. I believe extending proper health care to millions will provide preventive that will help to avoid more costly procedures in the future on our dime. I also think helping those that could not afford is the right thing to do and agree with you on the "deserving" aspect, but how to implement such a measure is another debate.

Wherzroony, thanks for the input in the U6, although I do not use message boards make decisions for me, I do use them to gain knowledge that may factor in. The U6 shows the unemployment plus the rate for people who have part time work, but want full time, not that have given up as you mentioned. This is not a more accurate measure, it is a different measure. The negative is that it started getting calculated in 1990 so for true comparison purposes you need to do your own calculations. My point though was not how great the current was it wa with regard to the change in direction. The bush era ended with the highest debt by any president (wars and stimulus both enacted by bush) and unemployment (using U6) that went from under 9% to almost 17%, it has since come down by almost 3 points and that change is going in the right direction.

I am not here to change anybody's mind, just stating my view. Yes that means there are people that disagree with you. And that's ok.

I stopped reading here. Through hard work? He was funded and groomed to be president from a youngster. What hard work has he done to help this nation?

1% not paying their share? The 1% make up a majority of the tax revenue this country takes in.
It just boggles my mind when I hear what people think are entitled to them.
I think The X said it the best, Op, keep looking with your eyes closed and you'll be fine.

Obama is just a pawn. As is anyone else that would take his place. It's the growing American idealogy of entitlement that's the real problem. The government in this country was designed to be run by the people, instead the people are run by the government.
What should be one and the same are now two separate entities, people and government. This is because too many people are looking for handouts from big brother, and thus, that is where all the power is.
You know what would fix unemployment? Working. There are tons of jobs people won't do. Start a business, do manual labor, etc. No one we elect will fix our problems. A change in mentality will.
We have generations of people on welfare. Grandparents, parents , and children all sucking from the system and contributing nothing. We pay politicians obscene amounts of money to figure out how to take even more.
We live in a country where when the government shuts down, congress still gets paid for doing nothing while government employees are expected to keep working without pay.
This socialism you speak of drains the system from anyone working and gives it to those who are either to lazy to work or are sitting at the top. If you look at our history, the more social programs are introduced, the shitier things get.

Make your own change.
