Hey everyone

First off I have a 2006 CBR600RR
Electrical Mods include
HID Lights 8000K w/ballasts
LED Running light
Led Turn Signals
LED Taillight with Intergrated Signals

I had my battery load tested and was told it was fine.

I put a volt meter on the battery when it is running and above 4000k rpms it reads about 13.6-13.9

The bike will start fine and run fine.

I can travel to work and back home, and work and back the next day but when I go out again it will be dead clicking under the seat and dead instument panel. (doesn't have to be work and home just an example)

Just tring to figure out what else to test and how to do it I am not an electrical wiz but I dont want to spend a fourtune having an electrical problem diagnosed if I can do it myself.

I have had the bike for about 6 Months and all the mods were done before I bought it and it has been perfect until now.

Side note not sure if it means anything but I accidentally hit the kill switch once going about 10KM/H with the clutch out. Turned it back on and it fired right up the only reason I mention this is that I noticed the power problem shortly after this happen but dont see how they would be related.

Any help would be greatly apprciated :toothy4:

if you're running the original battery, sounds like it might be time for replacement. I believe that running HID places greater strain on battery at startup. so you're battery might be OK to start mine (no HID), but not strong enough to handle your's (HID + leds)

So while running shouldnt the voltage drop after running for a while and I shut the bike off?

Have it looked at by a professional bike mechanic/shop. I have an 06RR as well. Ur battery should be good for more than 2yrs (i've been running stock battery). I dunno if ur 8k HID's are causing a problem. I would pm Knightslugger/Moeman/Tripage since they know more about the electrical issues.

You can also try a battery tender. It has worked for me many times when my battery would suddenly die. Its worth the $40 investment instead of a new battery.

Already tried the battery tender

it charges up then just does the same thing again after roughly 5 or 6 starts

1. The battery has been load tested so im going to assume that its okay in theroy ( but if you keep recharging it since it has been tested it may just be a surface charge your getting if you have a dead cell)

2. Who was the guy wiring your bike. If you don't know you need to start digging, you wouldn't believe how people make "repairs" ive seen stuff you couldn't imagine come through the dealer when I was there.

3. start simple, if you dont see anything obvious, ( scoring(heat marks or burnt wires), check the resistors for sure, they burn up easily espically with the undertail exhaust, just check all the mods that have been done, if nothing looks to suspicious..

4. All that out of the way and verified now I would assume you may have a draw on the system( something still pulling volts with the bike off ) or something in the charging system isn't working properly

5. At that point if you don't know what your doing, ask a friend for help or I can help you as much as possible, ill be honest I never had this issue with my 04 600rr but I have done some work to my friends 636 ( ELETRICAL NIGHTMARE)

anyway I hope this helps a little bit, and I hope this wasn't too mr obvious but you said you didn't know much, this is where I would start, goodluck hit the thread back if you got more details Ill do what I can for a .net bro

also if anyone is reading this and I said something wrong, I always stand corrected were all here for the same reason....

Ok..first thing id think is the battery is done..it may have been tested but id think its toast.

Try putting yourvolymeter on the batter and push the start button and see how low the voltage drops as its trying to start...if it drops below9-10 volts its done.

if thats not it..no clue but try that

could be wiring issue then or maybe the rectifier/charging system of ur bike.

have you tried taking the HID out then seeing if it solves the problem?

My battery seems to have crapped out on me as well. It just so happens I got a voltmeter recently too. I checked voltage before starting; 12-13, and then again after a failed starting attempt(clicks under the tail) and it read in the 10's. I'm sure if I held it and read the voltage it'd be LOW.
This bothers me because it's an '07... The key has never been left on or anything, and this non-starting issue appeared after a 10 minute stop at a friends house. I'm perplexed.

OK I found a couple of things the signals and taillight are wired direct arent there supposed to be resistors here if so where I didnt install the signals / taillight they were on the bike when I bought it.

If they need resistors what kind and where do I install them pics would be awsome

If you got led turn signals for the front and a clear alternative tail light
for the rear and u got a fast than normal blinking rate you do not have
to use resistors changing the relay is a better , cleaner , easier alternative

OK so i tried just starting the bike and using the kill switch to shut it off and then started it again worked everytime. Multimeter died today (figures)

Then I tried turning the key off letting it sit for about 30 seconds turned the key back on and it started about 4 times then tried it once with the high beams on and dead

constant starting without a recharge period will kill a battery. limit it as much as you can.

Got a new battery problem solved

But i did put a switch in the control the low beams just to be safe

Thanks for all the help you guys are awsome
