Charging system update

well I decided I would give the shop one more chance to fix my bike. To update everyone, I've had electrical issues since about 1 month after purchasing my bike and honda told me the fix was to not use the high beams. I told them to stuff it and got an attorney because even using low beams only im push starting my bike every other day.

I had read on this site that the new 04 bikes had a heat shield on the regulator/rectifier so I called the shop and told him i would bring it in and we would talk about it. we looked at an 03 and an 04 side by side and there is definately a new heat shield. He also told me that he had just got off the phone with the district rep and honda has produced a couple of high output stator's for a couple of bikes and one for my bike in particular.

So, with these two new parts I'm hoping my problem will finally be fixed since ive been dealing with it for 6 months now. They asked me if I would call off the dogs (attorney) if they got it fixed and I said "yes, i love this bike and want to keep it" so hopefully everything works out.

They also had a coupe of the new 04 R1's in the shop and after sitting on them again and looking at them I decided I'm not impressed and would much rather have my 600rr. I initially sat on the r1 at the international show. I just dont like how you sit in the bike, where on the 600rr i feel like im on the bike, hope that makes sense. I told the sales manager I already made up my mind anyways if mine is not fixable it's either another 600rr or the 1000rr. They had all three new 600rr's in stock and I have to stay they all look pretty nice, but I still like my Black/grey 03.

6 MONTHS!!! what the hell is with honda these days. i understand trying to fix the problem but holy fuggin ****!
Damn, Sub!! 6 months  I know what you are feeling though. No matter how much you ride or how skilled you are, when the bike isn;t in the garage it really hurts. You could be the best rider in the world or a first-timer and the feeling is the same. I'll back you with whatever you need. I'll give testimonials if I have to as to how lax they are on solving these issues. Hit me up if you need some help - I'd be glad to assist in easing your pain and I hope ot works out for you. Damn, we have to get this "recreational vehicle" ******** legislation changed ASAP
Dave, your bike might be closer to actually meeting requirements for the non-existant lemon law, but having one problem that's taking a while to fix hardly qualifys. Sorry to hear about your problems guys, it definately opens my eyes. Are they trying to say that the problem came from riding with your high beams on all the time? Do you ride with the beams on all the time?
No, my problem did not come from riding with my high beams on all the time but when I took my bike in with the problem honda told me that i should not ride with my high beams at all. I just got an update from the shop, I'm getting a complete new electrical system including an updated high output stator and new ecu. The other thing my bike would do is after i finally got it started the oil light would stay on so I would have to shut it off then start it again for that to go off so I thought the ecu could be a problem and so did honda. They are going to replace every part in the bike all at once. I'm getting excited that I might actually be able to make long term plans of keeping my bike. I havn't touched a thing on it because I don't know if I'm keeping it or not. Things are looking up, though I won't have it back for a couple of weeks. I will keep you all updated and thanks for the comments.

yeah, that is what happens if you don't take some sort of action when honda is dicking around with your bike and not fixing the problem.
I noticed Honda has a high output system on the 1000rr. So they know the 03 has a problem. I wonder if the 04 600rr has had a higher output system on it? Should be able to compare owners manuals to see. Might be more then just the heat sink difference.
