Close call...thankfully

*I didn't post this in the "Crash boom bang" section becasue I didn't crash boom or bang. If this should be in there feel free to move it.*

Sorry in advance...this is a bit long.

It's 11:00 a.m. on a beautiful Saturday morning here in NY. I'm cruising down 25A between Fort Salonga and Kings Park solo going approximately 55MPH (indicated). Posted speed limit is 50MPH. There a few cars behind me at a safe distance, no one in front of me. Roads are now dry from all the rain we have had and my tires are warmed up since I have been riding for a good 45 minutes. There is a 4 door purple sedan in the opposite direction of traffic coming towards my direction...I notice the front bumper dips a bit (my assumption is the driver is slowing down but I can't figure out a good reason for this since there is no where to turn, no side streets, no drive ways nothing.) and there is no obvious reason for this...I look to see if their turn signals are on...nope...so I'm thinking this person is just basically slowing for no real reason which is dangerous for the cars coming up behind her.

WELL...the moron decides to whip a left into my lane, 3/4 of her car in the lane and a 1/4 into the shoulder area and comes to a complete stop, literally! Almost like a crazy gung ho cop would do in the movies to try and stop a fleeing suspects car. (Keep in mind this whole thing happened in a matter of seconds). needless to say I had the mental panic attack kick in but some how kept the physical to a minimum, thank God. I got on the rear brake real hard a millesecond before I got on the front brakes really hard. The rear did get light and locked for a good distance, got a little squirly both to the right and then to the left and then finally just came up about 10 - 12 inches like a small stoppie (which I cannot do on purpose). My heart was pounding and my left leg actually shoof for a few seconds. I literally missed hitting the rear of this car by about a foot. That may sound like a lot but it really didn't feel like a lot when I thought I was going to crush my leg between the bike and her car.

My only thought is this person decided to attemp a 3 point turn in a very dangerous spot and in an extremely dangerous manner. Once the fear/oh sh!t factor wore off I have to admit I wanted to get off the bike and beat that idiot driver. Even the car directly behind me honked and flipped off the driver.

At the next light the guy behind me pulled up next to me and asked if I was ok and said he saw the whole thing. I told him yes and that was way too close for comfort.

I got home and just thanked God I didn't lay it down or crash into anything. My MX experience played a role in how I physically behaved I think. I didn't get all that nervouse when the rear stepped out to the right and then the left, just a little bit when it started to lift.

Sorry for the long rant but I am thankful I got out of this unscathed.
