hi, this is for an 02 f4i but i hope someone here might know how to help..

i'm trying to install my clutch outer, but can't because i can't get my sub-gear and primary drive to align. when i removed it they (primary and sub gear) were aligned, but since working on things they've come out of alignment and it's impossible to get them to align (they move together as if attached).

one thing that might be the problem is that when i removed the outer i didn't need to loosen the cam chain because the sub-gear and primary were aligned. if i loosen the cam chain now will this help the sub gear move into alignment?

any help is much appreciated.

thanks.

FOund out how to fix this problem if it ever comes up again...

the sub-gear is spring loaded, so what i was told is to put the outer on the spindle and engage with the sub-gear. then use a pry bar on the clutch outer and gently turn so that the sub-gear will align with the primary. once aligned just tap outer clutch gently to engage with primary as well.

it worked easily for me, good luck to anyone else who has this problem!
