Ever since I got the bike this spring was broken. I only started noticing it when the hook started hooking onto my pants. Here's a pic from the shop manual:

I haven't had any problems with the clutch returning to position, does anyone know if this could be a major problem in the future? I'm planning a major tune-up this weekend but I'd have to check bikebandit to see if I can get the part quick.

Thanks!:cruising:

Assuming you have a 2003, like it says in your profile, this is a very simple fix. All you need is part #5 (22815-MEE-000) and some liquid gasket, you will be good to go. Just remove the clutch cover, and the clutch lever will slide up. Clean away all the old gasket material, and apply some new gasket material, throw the new spring on the lever, and put the lever back in the case, throw the cover on, and your good to go. Should take less then an hour. You do not even need to drain the oil if you perform this procedure when the bike is on the kickstand.

Mine broke too. Ordered it at my local dealer and had it a couple days later. It's really easy to change. Start to finish I think it took about 45 minutes or so.

How are these breaking?
I'm not really sure. I know one day mine was fine, then the next day I went out to the bike and just looked down and noticed the spring had snapped.

The guy at the parts counter at my local dealer said he's going to start keeping that part in stock though, I guess he's had a lot of people purchasing that spring in the last year or so.
