Any racers having problems with clutch slipping. I have 800 miles of track time on brand new bike and I only use clutch for downshifts.

Anyone know of a company that makes heavier clutch springs?

I heard that if you're using synthetic oil it will make it do that. Not sure though

Use an oil that has no molybednium dislufide in it. That additive is fine for street riding but makes clutches slip with full on riding. Drain the oil, add the specified amount of cheapo car oil to flush it, ride it around the block, come home, full oil and filter change to the new non-moly oil. :bounce:

Thanks for the help. I think it was the car oil I used. I looked for friction modifiers on the bottle and didn"t see anything but there must have been, anyway lesson learned. Never use oil unless its for motorcycles period.

Using Golden Spectro semi synthetic and put a washer on the clutch springs for a little more pressure until I can get the springs from HRC.

Hopefully I can save the plates, they haven't been slipping that long.

thanks for the help.

At no time should you use car oil in your bike. Moly is a friction modifier that companies put in oil to make it more viscous. Honda recommends that you use oil without moly to avoid clutch slippage. However, Honda oil has more of a moly contant than most hig-end full synthetics. Use Motul 300v or Silkoline pro 4. Also, you can get carbon clutch plate to give the clutch more "bite" while shifting or get a heavier dent spring in order to get more grab between gears. Remember, no car oil in your pride and joy.

I've read a lot of guys use Mobil 1 "Red Cap" 15W50 (cbrworld.net). I bought a case the other day (same stuff I use in my old Volvo turbo) and checked the bottles, no "Energy Conserving" in that circle. That is all the Honda manual mentions as far as oil requirements.

I understand the virtues of breaking these things in with dino oil, but I've always used synthetic in my vehicles and it always came out cleaner and closer to the way it went in.

What do you guys think?

Not all car oils have friction modifiers The mobil 1 oil 1550 does not. I have run it in my Gsxr 1k fora whileandnever had aproblem with the clutch slipping. I am going to use it in the RR next time i change the oil
