Can I use DOT 5.1 instead of the DOT 4?

Yes, it's not silicone-based like DOT-5. Compatible with glycol fluids.

However it's higher boiling-point comes with a price, it's more hygroscopic than DOT-4. Meaning it'll absorb moisture out of air faster and needs to be changed out every year compared to every 2-years for DOT-4.

So unless you're racing it's really not worth it.
