this is from moto go dot com can't post a link, cause the server here wouldn't let me

"Pramac d'Antin team have officially reliesed Alex Hoffman from his Moto gp contract following following his controversial decision to retire with 17 laps remaining in Sunday's bwin.com Grande Primo de Portugal.

The german rider sited lackof motivation as the reason for his early exit from the Estoril race- as he pulled into the pits when 6 seconds behind the rest of the pack in last position after an early problem with his Ducati machinery-with his actions incensing team manager Luis d'Antin.

Immediately after the race d'Antin commented: "I think that lack of motivation is not an excuse for us, and therefore the team reserves the right to make a decision on whether or not he (Hoffman) will continue racing with us for the remainder of the season."

The situation was further clarified overnight on Sunday when Ducati outfit released a statement saying: "Team management of Pramac d'Antin have desided to release Hoffman from his contractual oligations for the remainder of the 2007 Moto gp season. teh last four races in the Moto gp World Championship will see a substitute rider in place of Hoffman, who will be named within a few days in the following press release."

Sucks for Hoffman, but he deserved it. I mean, what are you thinking? You are racing motogp.. you get paid a shitload of money to race the top motorcycles in the world. Lack of motivation? Ok, bye! We'll find someone who's motivated.

Just as well. Hoffman's never done anything big in GP. Even when he was given a factory desmo last yr when capirossi/gibernau were hurt, he didnt do much.

Roberts JR did the same a few years ago with the Suzuki and was fortunate to keep his ride.

Reports saying Chaz Davies to ride the Pramac bike at Motegi. That's worked out well as he's only recently done a 2 day test on the bike plus Ducati's team bosses have been putting their influence behind him.

Good luck to him.

I think Duhamel said he didn't feel comfortable on the bike and brought it in before he crashed it.

Hoffman on the other hand said he lacked motivation because he saw he was too far behind. :icon_hang:icon_hang

isn't that like what duhamel pulled at laguna seca this year?
Kinda, but the biggest diff is duhamel's ride at laguna was more or less a charity ride for him. Hoffman is paid to ride for d'antin. If I went into work tomorrow and left bc I had no motivation, I'd imagine my boss would fire me too.

Sucks, I'd kick everyone in the genitals to be paid to race a motogp bike for a living.
