Hey Guys-

This has been driving me nuts. Since I got my '07 there has been this annoying rattle coming from the windscreen / dash / front cowl at about 4-5k RPMs. Its like a weird vibration noise. So, I installed a new Puig screen hoping that might fix it and now its a little worse! I've noticed if I push down the front of the windshield down while driving it helps a lot. Any ideas?

I have the exact same issue! Mine seems like it's coming from behind the left headlight. And when I took it all apart to put in my HID kit I couldn't fix it. Do you wheelie yours?

I'm still a fairly new rider so I've played with slipping the clutch and bringing the front up a few inches, but no balls to try a full out wheelie... so def not. The rattle was there since I got the bike.

Hahah I just started a thread like this last week or so. I still havent been able to fix it. Ive narrowed it down though. First off it doesnt matter how tight you make the windscreen screws, it wont help. You will only strip or snap the heads of the screws. I tried thicker rubber washers from home depot that I placed in between the fairing and the windscreen.... No luck.

What I do know is that it seems to come from the gap where the top of the third eye meets the bottom of the windscreen. I am still working on a good solution for it. I temporarly wedged a cigarette but in between and it made a major difference.

Let me know what ideas you may have cause the rattle is very distracting.

I got a suggestion for you you know how the windscreen at the bottom does not sit flush with the upper edge from the inside that is where the rattle originates plastic vibration basically what you can try is use something as a buffer between both surfaces such as a few layers of electrical tape or even a small cloth in between the upper and the windscreen .

To see such gap if you look down from right behind the cluster you would see a beam of light coming thru that slight gap is what I am talking about give that a shot and hopefully will work for you

Sounds good. My question is why are we the only few plagued by this. It seems to me that all our bikes would vibrate close to the same...

When you say gap, do you mean the slit between the third eye and the windscreen? So plug that up and it should be OK? OR is it between the windscreen and the gauge housing?

Yes that is the spot I am talking about just above the third eye

Yeah I plugged it up with a cigarette butt, a temporary fix mind you, and that helped alot. Im thinking layers of electrical tape or some type of rubber gasket material.

Both ideas would work just stop the vibration in that area and you should be set

make sure all the rubber washers and well nuts are tight and that the wind screen is not rubbing the front cowl in one spot and if it is then cushion it with tape or something softer

all good... lemme know how it works out... dying to get rid of this rattle. I just don't see how putting a little foam between that gap will fix a rattle but who knows...
