The pull the foot out from under the left peg after down shiffting looks like you are putting your foot down shuffle....

yeah most 250 gp riders keep that habit. It's from the GP shift pattern. Getting the foot out from under the shifter..

Yup.....Kenny Jr. still does it alot also.

I remember the Rossi Sete debate where lots of people who didnt know thought Rossi was trying to put his foot down cause he was gonna crash.

I was trying to explain but they weren't buying it....

so what exactly is the reasoning for this? probably a dumb question i know. but i have no problem getting my foot out from under the shifter without "hiking my leg to piss on a tree" lol

it's becasue 99% of racers use a reverse shift pattern..I.E. up for down.

So after down shifting (pullin up on the shift lever) it's sometimes easier to just pull your foot outwards becaue the heel of your boot hooks the peg.

I do it to. My vortex pegs are real grippy so I have to lift my foot to get out from under the shifter. I use reverse shifting as well. Much easier for shifting through turns.

I do it as well sometimes...GP shift pattern and vortex pegs.

Granted, its not that dramatic...its probably only 3 inches away from the peg, but its alot easier than trying to pivot your foot at the heel and slide your toes up and over the lever, then slide our foot back onto the peg. Taking it off just seems easier.

I agree, I've done it a few times. It also probably has to do with inertia and gravity as when you brake super hard, if your left foot is off and you're hanging off the foot kinda moves forward. Luckily, when I was done and searching for my peg it was right where it should've been.
