What's up everyone I need some help and I know I can turn to my fellow 600rr riders for some insight so here I go..
I'm having a small problem with the DDM HIDS i just installed on my 07, if anyone has any ideas or suggestions for a solution it would be really appreciated!

I had a nice and smooth install, only took about half an hour to get everything nice and clean, minus mounting the ballast. So I turn the power to ON and I have a nice iceberg low beam(right side)! THEN I switch my high beam(left side) on, and I get nothing..

I began troubleshooting, switched sides with the ballast and still only low beam light. So it can't be that they sent me a bad ballast. Then I switched sides with the bulbs, still only low beam power coming on. So its not a faulty bulb. Checked all the fuses, minus the relays and diode since im not really sure how to check those.

So now I am stuck and I don't wanna finish mounting the ballast and cleaning up all the wiring with just one beam working!
Pleaseee someone give me LIGHT!

Also: Last week I installed FE w/ integrated tail lights, no relays or diodes. But I haven't installed the flush mounts yet, I plan on using diodes or relays on those when I do.

i had the same issue. what i did was start the bike, actually fire her up. then i'd turn the highs on. it'd flicker, and sometimes it would stay on, sometimes it wouldn't. if it didn't, i'd give it a few seconds, then turn it on again. i'd have to repeat it up to 3-4 times just for it to stay on. i'm guessing it has something to do with the electrical load going to the high beam. like you, i checked both ballasts and bulbs with my lows, and they all worked fine.

i went back to a halogen bulb for my high beam.

hmm interesting. Do you still ride around with one HID beam. I don't know how I feel about having one HID and one halogen though so I'm hoping there is another solution to this problem.

yeah, i still ride around with my low HIDs. the reason i switched to the halogen is when i'm splitting lanes, i like to turn my highs on, just to give cagers an extra sense of awareness that i'm there. really the only other time i'd have my highs on is if i were riding on a dark stretch of road. otherwise they're always off.

i know this really isn't a solution to your issue, but just some food for thought. although i really think there's some sort of electrical surge going to the high beams when you turn them on. i had the same issue with my integra, then switched back to halogens [when i had the car. *sigh*], so i don't think it's an isolated incident. have you tried contacting DDM to get an answer? good luck though.

did you get it fixed? i had an issue with my highs on the ddm install. i think i had to swap the blue and black cable around. i can't remember but i think it's opposite of the low beam side.

spiritofkaos1 - true, i just can't get over the non symmetric headlights bikes have! they should really just build the headlights with hi/lo beams for both sides right from the factory, I hope they come to some sense with the newer gen bikes. anywhoo I don't think i'll get much from calling ddm except maybe some common sense answers and elevator music (while on hold for 20 min). Hopefully I can figure this out!

rlee350 - which blue and black cable are you talking about? I only have red and black wires on my HID kit. Does your high beam work now?

Are you talking about switching the power wires +/- on the high beam side. I would give it a try if someone could make me feel more comfortable to try this or if you could verify that you actually did that and it worked.

Yes the + - I had to swap it on the high side. Sorry not the blue and black it was te cables inside the dust cover.

glad to be of assistance looks sick man. take pics once everything is back on.

on the high beam side i unbolted the heatsink looking thing and put it behind there.

Thanks guys, im just waiting for my plastics to come in from the paint shop then ill do a quick lil photoshoot. Im getting them painted pearl white with matte black mids :banger:, hopefully it comes out sicksh!

Thanks I was thinking about putting it there, just wasnt really sure what that was hah.

omg took me hours to find the correct thread that had the same problem as me! thank you!! got mines fixed today too! :banger:

get your self a test light and this wont be a problem

While we are on the topic I would HIGHLY recommend getting a HID low beam relay/kill switch installed. It is a great investment that will save your charging system. The HID's put a huge strain on the charging system and have been known to fly them over time

Just my 2c

Glad u got everything squared up and enjoy your new set up!

what is that and what does it do? where can i get one? where would you install it?

I don't agree...

And I think whoever told you that doesn't know what they are talking about.

HIDs can put high load on the charging system but that will only happen when they start, and it doesn't make any difference whether you have a switch or not.

Prove to me, either with first hand evidence or theoretical proof how what you say could be true...

By the way, incandescent globe also put high load on the system when you first turn them on...
