I actually don't have any boots or shoes with ankle protection whatsoever at home, so I am wondering what some decently priced and good looking options I might have. It would have to be something I can wear to my MSF Class in about a month, and I would also like to use it while I am learning on the bike and riding back and forth to work and what not. So it needs to be something that can fit comfortably under my jean pants and won't be to awkward to walk around in. I have never worn motorcycle boots before so I don't know what to expect. I will probably try to locate a few local stores to try some on, but ultimately I will probably end up buying a pair online because of the larger selection and usually better prices. Any and all suggestions with prices, pics, and links would be greatly appreciated. I don't want to buy some crappy stuff and then decide a few months later it sucks and I need to buy something new ya know, I'm trying not to waste money here:)

IMO if you go all out protection, comfort, etc go with SIDI..Only thing is though..I don't know what you do for work, but you'd want to have an extra pair of shoes at work to change into..They're comfortable but not 8 hours on your feet comfortable..If you are just looking for a shoe with, mild protection (protection of a work boot or the like), and a shoe that you can where to work with..You might wanna check out the alpinestar shoes...

Yeah I have no intention of skimping on gear. So these Sidi Racing Boots, could I walk around in a mall with these? Work isn't a problem because I would just bring a backpack with a change of shoes or something.

from someone who just picked up their first pair, here was my thought process:
1. find the cheapest possible
2. realize that i'd rather spend money now than in an emergency room later
3. find the most expensive pair possible
4. realize you can get pretty much the best coverage for around $200 with a pair of sidi's or a* smx+.

as hard as it may be to drop the money now, it WILL be worth it if you ever go down.

I have Sidi Vertigo Corsas which I don't know if thats the same as 'racing boots' but I assume so - but I wear mine to campus and also wore them to my job all day. Takes abit of getting used to but other then that they are perfectly comfortable. The only time I changed them was when we had a big shot came in. Gotta add those Dr. Scholls inserts though, huge improvement.

I have a weird phobia about my ankles when I ride, I can't stand the wind pushing up my jeans and leaving my ankles open in the wind when I wore tennis shoes.

+1 on the Sidi Corsa..

after a long ride, the Corsa feels just like a regular shoe to me..

my buddie's has aksed me why I haven't taken them off, I told them that it doesn't bother me and feels just like another shoe to me

Sounds like the consensus is Sidi Racing Boots of some sort. I will definitely look into that, thanks guys. Money isn't an issue, and I have no desire to skimp just to save a few bucks. I was just wondering if the cool looking racing boots like Sidis would be comfortable to wear when I am off the motorcycle and walking around somewhere. Since it sounds like they are thats probably what I will go with, or some other brand of racing boot.

Now I just need to find a shop to try some on before I order them online, where do you guys suggest I order from for online stores?

I dont think you will go wrong. As I stated they are manufactured under the supervision of Sidi, and Im pretty sure the sizing will be the same. I nearly bought the Setup boots before I got my Vertigos. I can say this, Sidi's are not for anyone with a wide width.
