This was brought up in the resale value thread. How many have taken the MSF course?

do you even have an RR yet? just curious. no offense but 16 is extremely young to have a bike with this much power. i think if i would have had this bike at between 16-19 my parents and friends would be visiting me at the cemetary.

took the msf course and still brag to other riders about how it was the best $25 dollars i have ever spent. i drove 1.5 hours there and back to take the course last summer but it was definately worth the drive. i recommend it to all riders.

i want to take it again this spring just to brush up on my basic skills but the damn thing is always booked up the whole summer the day of registration.
it was mandatory here in florida for under 21.

Never taken it. Been riding for 8 years. I think I may take it this summer though....I hear even seasoned riders learn something in it. Besides, should give a little break on insurance as well.
Meddie600RR, WORD UP BROTHER!, oh and I took the course as well, I took it like 2 months after I turned 16 :) It really helps you understand bikes if you have never ridden street before, I would recommend it to anyone who has never ridden before, even to some people who are riding now!
dsf600rr, Its manditory in C.A. as well if you want your lisence before your 21, if not.... I guess you could just renew your permit every year or whenever its up..... but, the class is only 75 bucks if your under 21 so, might as well take it and get your lisence.
i did not. got my permit and took the test 6 weeks later (15 yrs ago)
the funny thing about the class (at least the one i was in) was that many guys who said they had been riding harleys and hogs had problems performing basic skills on 250's. go to show you that no amount of self taught experience can match the basics taught in three days.

in no means does this mean that once you take the msf course are you experienced and capable of handling your first or next bike. you must continue to practice these skills.

I'll have to be careful when I go there and learn to ride on a real bike then. :D

This was a poll a long time ago that I started. Yes I took it, yes I recommend it. I think it should be mandatory.

Haven't taken it, but will at some point. It must be good for everyone no matter how much experience riding. I think it drops your insurance a little too.
Took the basic MSF course for my class M a few years ago. GO back every few years for the advanced course. It's funny the things that course teaches me every time I take it.

Bonus for us Honda guys, HRC reimburses you $75 each year towards rider education courses. Makes yer advanced courses free here in Tx.

(Now, if only that $$ could be applied to track days somehow......)
Yo, I took it, LOOOVVVEEEEDDD it, but it made me kinda nervous at the same time...lots of dip-sh'ts that wanna start riding...scared the crap out of me knowing that some of them were gunna be riding on 2...I think it should be manditory before getting even your permit...oh, and while we're on the topic, I think there should be a larger penalty for non-endorsed riders...more of one than a stupid little ticket... :banban:
Meddiepie954rr, I would have to agree with you...... There was this guy in my class and he could BARELY even sit on the bike without tipping over and he almost fell a few times and I asked him 'Have you ever ridden before?' he says 'naw, first time' I say...... 'What kind of bike to plan on getting?' hes like 'A Black 03 R1!!!!!' and im like 'So really...... what bike are you getting?' and hes like 'A black R1' and I'm like 'uhhhhhhhh........ You shouldnt start with an R1, thats ALOTTTTTT of power for a noob' and hes like 'I have mad skills man, I can handle it' and I'm like 'Good luck with life! ;]'. I am dead serious...... the kid said it! Its out of control if you ask me but.... whatcha gonna do?
