I have an 08 600rr. stock. I think the battery might be on the fritz but i'm not a 100% positive. This is what happens i turn the key the dash board lights up and when i hit the starter the dash goes out and goes on and off switching between when the alternator kicks over. I did turn the bike on this morning and i had my high beams on and the screen was blank when i flicked it off the screen came on and did its normal start up procedure... What yall think?

I've got no idea what you're talking about from this point on.

Analyze the words master KS :icon_lol: when he turns the key the dash lights up
when he attempts to hit the starter the dash lights shut off if he holds the starter switch while the starter is trying to get the bike going the dash lights
come on , go out and flicker:icon_stud bottom line is dead battery

well there's that... but i've got no idea what he's talking about when he says the alternator is kicking on... that makes absolutely no sense. If the flywheel is moving, the alternator is working. there is no switch that gets flipped. but that's all besides the point. the bike runs all electronics off the battery 100% of the time. it's just irritating is all.

OP: the battery is drained and needs a charge... no doubt. 5 hours on a 2A charge should satisfy it.

you don't need a tender, just get it charged. tenders are overated.
Battery tenders are cool, but depends if the battery is fully drained or not. I had battery issues before ( i dunno if you remember my thread) but a battery tender solved my problem, while the techs at the Honda dealership didn't have a clue.

a battery tender shouldn't SOLVE a problem. the bike is capable of self charging the battery all by itself. if that's not happening, something is wrong and by using a tender you are delaying the inevitable.

that makes sense KS. Its just weird that a new stock 08RR is already having battery issues.

lsudecat, have u tried push-starting ur bike? If anything at least its still under warranty. Bring it back to the dealer where you bought the bike and have them look at it and fix it.

yeah i got a battery charger charged it up and started it once. didn't get to ride it because of rain. It started right up but the next time i tried it the battery was dead. I am wondering if the battery just can't keep a charge.

the only way you're going to know that is if you get it load tested.

190 CCA is it's rating.
