Don't waste your time trying on the RR, it isn't built for that, the engine is too far forward and the weight distribution isn't conducive for wheelies. Personally I like it that way because it allows for quicker launches. That and I have no desire to do them.

I kind of learned on my RR. My old '91 ZX-6 would never wheelie very good....well, at least I could never get it to. I've learned to do much better ones on my RR but only power wheelies....I don't trust clutching it up. I'm definitely no expert though...Like you I don't want to dump my very expensive bike that I don't have money to fix while in grad school.

i learned to wheelie on the RR. never did one before and one day me and my buddies decided to clown around on some open roads in an industrial area. it wasn't too difficult. after a hour i was consistently pulling 2 footers..... i know thats pretty weak but it felt pretty high to me. i power it up in 1st at about 8k but still a bit scared about twisting the trottle too much.

then i tried it on my friends r6 with a power commander and almost soiled myself :yikes: that bike has lots of power and super light!!

It's not that that bike is so much lighter than ours. It's the weight distribution....good for wheelies....however not as good on the track as our bikes.

I looped my 929 in 2002. Wheelies were fun until I saw first hand what a wheelie gremlin can do to $12,000 of motorbike. Not worth it for me. I do the odd one still, its safer on the 600RR cause she really doesn't wnat to wheelie.

If you really want to wheelie....do a gear swap...I'm waiting on my 15/45 sprockets right now. If they are anything like LuckyDevil says, My 140 lb ass will be working to keep the front end down :bounce:

I'm a pro at it, serioulsy. Early this morning i pulled a 1/2 block wheelie, landed, and fell right into a rolling stoppie for the other half of the block, adn then some chick in a Red & black thong hopped on the back of the bike, and then the Fking alarm clock rang.

I dont care about wheelies. I mean it is cool to see someone up on one wheel, but being 22 and in grad school, I just dont want to shell out the cash to have to fix my bike if I dump it, and I think wheelies increase the chance of that happening.

learning on a dirtbike i think is totally different. Ive raced motocross and when i got my rr i was like i should be able to do a wheelie easy, i was wrong. It took me about a month to really get a decent one down and its still not that easy probably cause im scared to hurt her, but if u want to learn brake and clutch control while riding a wheelie buy a fourwheeler, thats where i learned the most because u can go so slow and if u fall back its not gonna hurt, well unless your riding a fast wheelie, but u can just sit there and balance and go back and fourth. Get a cheap 400ex they are wheelie kings

HEY i have a 4k f3, and i cant get it up in second to save my life, i even added 1 in the rear and with a brand new "track clutch" still cant get it, although she will muscle it up when screaming her from 1st to 2nd.
In 1st i have to clutch it, still haven't grasped the bouncing it up one.

HAhaha, easy buddy!! Take a breath! You can learn on your RR...if you're worried about dropping it, I know you can find stunt cages all over the internet, so I'd start looking there, that way when you drop your bike, if you drop your bike...which I'm sure you won't...you don't mess up the paint job. I learned on my 600 F4i...no problems (knock on wood). Just start small, and work your way big, go find either a big secluded parking lot, or a nice straight smooth back road somewhere...where you can practice without having to worry about cops/other cars...etc. Find your power band, snap off the throttle, and back on real quick, but don't give it too much right away, just practice getting it up half a foot, then a foot, and so on and so fourth til you're riding 12 o'clocks...(which might take a while). But it just takes practice, and patience. My buddy's brother has an RR, and he can ride wheelies fine...but I'm not sure where the power band on the RR is...I know on my F4i it was between 7,500 and 8,500 rpms...so I'm assuming it'll be around the same on the RR...but like I said, just take it easy, and don't freak out when you get it up, as soon as you pull the front wheel up even 6 inches, it's gunna feel like you're up 3 feet, but as you get used to it, it'll be better! Good luck...and sorry if all of this has already been said, I didn't want to read all the posts! HAHA!

I think you're the first person I have ever heard talk about an SV 650 like that...ideal stunting bikes are Gixxer 750's and CBR 929's...at least, that's what I've seen and been told...but I've never heard of an SV being ideal for stunting...
