Don't let anyone borrow your bike!

So I let my younger brother borrow my bike, he has a Yamaha WR250X hyper-motard, and he tried doing a wheelie but flipped it over backwards...Luckily he was okay. Later on my youngest brother borrowed without asking since I occasionally let him and someone cut him off and he crashed...only $2k in damage but they totalled it :( oh well, I got it paid off and bought it back from the insurance company. Both brothers are paying for the repairs and my deductible.

I am thinking about keeping the scratched up fuel tank cover as a reminded not to let anyone borrow it.

as i always say the girlfriend, the gun, and the bike are never lent to anyone.
Rockie mistake!!!!
I hate having anyone even touch my bike. my brother was sitting on my dads bike and he lost his balance and him and the bike fell right onto my bike!!! lucky me it hit the seat and there was no damage done.
i laughed when my Bro - in law asked me to use my bike lol. He is an amazing dirt bike rider and has been since the age of 5 but my 10 + tho baby only gets THIS D.

Agreed!
i'll never let anyone borrow my bike.
I'm too smart to do it in the first place. Seriously, what were you thinking?
i let me buddies ride mine, we bike swap all the time. not everyone gets to, but there are a small handful of guys that i trust with my bike. im usually on theirs at the same time. so its great cause ive gotten to ride a lot of different bikes!

:+1: i only can think of two riders i'd trust to let ride my bike....my dad is one. the other is a fellow sport bike rider

I'm a pretty relaxed guy to be honest, and when I found out I was worried about my brother more than my bike and didn't really care about the bike. Which is why I never named her, you get emotionally attached when you name something.

I've let a couple of friends who I trust ride my bike a few times. Usually those who have they're own bikes. My rule is that their bike becomes the collateral if they crash mine, and vice versa.
No love man.. Bike first, then family. And you gotta name her! Love her, ride her.. Otherwise what's the point?

:+1::+1: lol....
it depends for me, I have let one person so far, and am gonna let a good friend of mine "try" mine out here pretty soon , he rides a F4 and I wanted him to see how cool my 09RR is :)

example of NO/YES

My Brother - NO (cuzz he doesnt ride)
My Girl Friend - NO she just took MSF, maybe after she's got lots of miles and I know she can handle it
My best friend who I've learned everything about riding with - YES
Fellow Rider Friend - Yes, I ride with him all the time, he's got mad skill, I totally trust him
for me its not really about trusting the person, nor if that person might have the skills to ride it.
i mean you can be a pro and still drop the damn thing you know.
its just something that you dont let anybody borrow or even ask to borrow for that case.
but that just me lol.
I'll let a select few ride it, doesn't bother me any.
me and my buddies swap bikes too some times, not often and when it happens its only with a selected friends and they must ride too. I dont let anyone with out a bike touch mine hell no

Exactly. I have a simple rule; I don't ask to ride anyone's bike and no one else rides mine.

It's not about trust with me either. It's just that avoiding the whole situation prevents a lot more problems than it causes.
this reminds me of a funny story.. a guy ive know for mosty of my life has a 636, i had the 929, we were gearing up to head home (he was visiting for a weekend of riding) and he climbs up on my 929, hes a short little guy so we had a good laugh, i gave him his helmet off his bike, put mine on while he was still sitting on the 929. i said im gonna sit on your ninjette. i climbed on his bike fired it up.. hit the horn, waved and left. HAHA

he caught up a few minutes later. even with his lid on i could see his big **** eatting grin cause that was the first big bike he rode haha.

good times!!

im gonna be sure to remind him of his honda adventure when i see him next weekend HAHA
