Well I'm back at it again with the first bike/project bike questions :p

Spent most of today trying to figure out why the fuel pump won't prime. After going through all of our testing we narrowed it down to the ECU not grounding out the relay so the pump isn't priming. All of the other relays work just fine, and using a jumper wire on the fuel cut relay will get the pump to run.

So here's my question for all you veteran two wheeler folk. Is there anything else I should check before assuming its just my ECU, like the ground box by the battery, or something I just haven't thought of? If not, do most dealers have a way of testing an ECU before I go dump money into replacing it? (Seeing as I have to save up for that frame rip). Sorry for all the questions after just starting my account, but I got to learn some how :D

The pump will only prime when the ecu wants it to

Cannot have any fuel related codes

Engine stop relay must be satisfied

If the bike is hiss equipped security must be satisfied

If there is a zener diode in the ignition there must be 9v on the immob wire.

Another thing I just thought about is maybe there is a wiring problem, because when the ignition is turned on the fan relay will click twice and on the second click the fan will start to run. Maybe the ecu is trying to get the fuel pump to prime but the signal is going to the fan instead for some reason? Going to go through and test some pins later today I'll post an update when I get back.

Just kinda throwing rocks here and hope i find something :p

Well I'm at a loss, looks like I'm going to have to pay a stealership to figure it out.

Also the light on the dash is blinking is this order and I cant seem to find anything on it.

You should be able to look up the codes.

If any of them are fuel injection related the pump won't prime as I said earlier.

UPDATE:
Well after finally getting a hold of a manual we got the fuel pump to prime, but we're still having issues. Found out that code 16 is a fuel code (like stated above). The code was the secondary injector circuit no 1. The problem is after shorting the red diagnosis connector under the seat the fuel pump will prime and it will run just fine, but after shutting it down and trying again it will throw the 16 code again and it's back to square one. We checked for continuity from the injectors to the ecu and everything was fine. Also checked the resistance on the injectors themselves and they were all around 12.1 ohms which is good according to the manual. If anyone has any ideas as to what would be causing the code feel free to give me an idea.

The wiring in the manual I have seems to be different from the bikes itself. For example the manual says that the wires for the primary and secondary injectors should be split on the ecu. Primary injectors on the black connector and secondary on the grey. But on my bike all of the injector wires are pretty much in a row on the grey connector. :ponder:

Also there was a pink and white wire that some how broke in the gray connector to the ecu, which went to the engine temp. My guess is that was the issue with the fan always running.

Good progress, you're getting there.....

sounds like a bad signal or a flaw/fault in injector circuitry?
(bike fires, runs OK......and then sends same fault code again)

does injector still fire after the code is re-generated?

or fails?

make sure connection is good from injector to loom to ecu?

replace #1 upper injector?

GL!

Waiting for a new ecu because everything else checks out. Even after trying to switch injectors and clear the code it stays on the no 1 injector position. I'll let you guys know if anything changes

Welp after getting a wiring diagram that actually made sense we got it running!

For what ever reason the previous owner was trying to re pin the main gray and black connectors. After popping them apart we found two wires that were completely ripped out of the terms, and wires in the wrong locations. The main one being that the pink wire to the injector was moved over from 8 to 9 on the gray connector. Also one of the wires for the throttle position sensor was broken inside the connector going to it.

In other words, the previous owner for some dumb fuckin reason thought he was a better electrical engineer than the people at honda. So he decided to start just yanking on wires and forgetting where they actually go. -.-
