He got lucky that the amount of alcohol that the cylinder took in wasn't more than the volume of the cylinder at TDC. You'd see parts flying then.

I blindly quoted RideApart in the representations of a/f ratios to different fuels but that's truly correct only for gasoline and acetylene in this case. The dude looks like he bypassed the carb and poured the alcohol straight into the intake which is why you see it gushing into the cylinder. Just because you add a ton of fuel doesn't mean it won't ignite, it just means that only a portion of the fuel is going to combust based on the available oxygen as long as that portion is well mixed with air. Having a ton of fluid sloshing around is also going to destroy the aerosol though since fuel particles are going to have a lot more other surfaces to stick to. So it may be running lean but it's a tough call.

Nitty-gritty aside, it's still an awesome video that shows flame propagation. Good to show to some people who believe there are explosions taking place in a cylinder as opposed to a pretty slow in comparison combustion.
