I have an 04 cbr600rr, adjusted valves yesterday and timing got fubar. reset and lined everything back up. Before I went to sleep last night it occurred to me that I didnt bother to check that I was TDC on COMPRESSION stroke. No problem I thought, Ill just remove the spark plug, stick my chopstick down the hole on cylinder 1 and watch it fall/rise....I got my chopstick down the hole and turn the crankshaft and it doesnt rise/fall at all....what am I missing here? isnt the piston supposed to move as I turn the crank?

You missed the actual threaded hole the spark plug goes in. Its a long ways down.
