I recently purchased a bike with a full yoshi pipe. It's a 2006 600RR. I realize now it was foolish not to ask the buyer about the power commander, or even if it had one. After talking with several people and doing some research I believe that I really need to have one since it is a full pipe.

My question is where on the bike can I look for it, if it were to already have one installed? I've taken off both seat covers and it was not in there. I started to take apart the rear cowl, but am having difficulty removing it. I would prefer not to rip apart the whole bike searching for it if I can.

Can anyone tell me the most likely locations of where the power commander might be, if the bike were to have one?

under the pillion seat is the normal placement.

your looking for a 3"x5"x1" box.....witha cable and a wire running out of it.

one wire end s/b hooked to a batt terminal

Under the pillion seat is just a small compartment with a hard black plastic bottom. Could it be under the plastic? That was my idea in trying to remove all of the rear cowl so that I could take that plastic piece out.

If i don't find a power commander that is really bad since I have a full yoshi exhaust right?

I've only had stock bikes; this is my first bike with any aftermarket exhaust. I thought I read somewhere that if you have a full exhaust and no power commander that it was bad for your engine? I did find something under the rear seat. It does not appear to have a name brand on it, but it is a small box with a wire coming out of it. Any idea what this is?

It is bad for your engine. Your bike is running way too lean. You need to richen up the mix a little bit.

I linked a picture of the only thing I found under my passenger seat. Can anyone tell me what it is?

not saying this is right OR wrong...but the chances of a full exhaust changing the fuel ratio enough to cause damage is slim to none. don't lose sleep over it OP. just keep an eye on the classified for a used PC3. they go up all the time and if lucky you might get one with a custom tune with a similar set up as yours

I wouldn't say "way too lean," but maybe "more lean." Just pick up a pcV from motomummy. They run sales constantly this time of year. It'll come with a map preloaded, once you tell them your setup. Super easy to install, and it'll ease your mind.

They sit under the pillion seat as below. If it's there you'd see it pretty quick.

Yeah i definitely do not have that. I just have some tiny black box linked above. Thanks for all the input!

OP, are you sure you have a full exhaust or do you have just a slip on? I can say with quite a bit of certainty there are far more "stories" of people having full exhausts than actual full exhausts sold and owners love to tell prospective buyer a bije gas a full exhaust when it doesn't.

Take a few pics of the headers, especially with the fairing off. If you have a full system the PC is a good idea, if you have a slip on its not needed.

I have a Micron full serpent exhaust and the instructions stated it was not required - now I know if you replace the air filter with say a BMC or K&N then a PC is a must.
