Can anyone tell me how to go about sanding my fairings down, and what grade paper to use, best ways of doing it to get it ready for paint to save a few buck at an auto body shop?

are you bonding the fairing or just stripping the paint. What is your goals (as far as repair) specifically?

as long as the fairings are in good shape you can use 400 grit sandpaper (wet) and a scratch pad. make sure everything is scuffed so the primer will have something to adhere to.

painting video lots of information

One of the customers I did work for runs the Canyons.net site which is a site for hosting sport bike videos, he crashed his bike at the track and had the cameras on. We then documented all of the repairs, there is a short vid on each screen then at the bottom just click and it will bring you to the next vid, it covers things like decal removal, sanding, body work, plastic welding, body fillers, tank repair, primer, paint, clear coat, and then polishing

If anyone here is doing there own paint job and ever run into problems or just have questions, Pm me or use the contact info listed on my site and I would be glad to help..Bob

Thanks for the offer to help out!

I went down this past Fall and I replaced the plastics but kept the rashed pieces as a winter repair project. I haven't had time to start working on it, but at least I know there's a place to get information on doing this ourselves.
