i want to replace my left side engine case. before i attempt to, is there any kind of fluid that will pour out when i try to pull it off?

and also is there a specific torque amount for those bolts and torque sequence?

Only a little bit of oil will come out because the engine oil pan is located much lower than the left cover. When you remove the cover, be sure to clean all the oil from the mating surface (both the engine and the new cover just to be safe) before you apply the sealant.

I don't remember the torque amount, but tighten them in a criss-cross pattern.
I didn't think there was any oil on that side, but when I cracked mine...BLAAGGHH. There goes my oil! So, yes, you will have to drain and replace the oil when you take the left case cover off.
alright, thanks alot guys
Richie, when you say left case cover, is that when you are sitting on the bike?? If so, that is alternator cover.

In the service manual it says "Engine oil will run out when the alternator cover is removed. ... add the recommended oil to the specified level after installation."

And the torque value for the 8 (# of) 8mm hex bolt is 22N.m (16 lb.ft). I got those values from page 1-12 in the service manual, if you want to double check me.

Also, here is Chapter 11 on the alternator in pdf format. This is from Bravo1's site.
coo thanks. u answered all my questions
Why drain the oil??? Leave the bike on it's side stand (the bike will lean to the right). Remove the left case cover, with a razor blade scrape off all the old liquid gasket, place the new liquid gasket on both the motor and new case cover, bolt then new case cover on in the criss cross pattern, and your done.
