vortex is decent in a low speed crash but I'd say anything over 40 they wont do much good at all. I dropped it at about 10mph and it caved in. I liked intuitive a lot...but they are pricey. I think shoguns are pretty similar to intuitives.
Frame slider question...
Hey everyone. I have a question about frame sliders. I was looking into the Woodcraft, but have heard people say they don't save the fairing, or at least as not as much as some other sliders. I am going to be a "weekened-warrior" of sorts, only riding twisties in my spare time, so I'd rather have some that protect the fairing too, b/c I don't foresee myself being in a track-environment type crash (knock on wood). This being said, should I stick with Woodcraft, or has anyone has experience with other sliders where they did a good job protecting your fairings? Thanks in advance everyone.

I have the shoguns and they really stick out. They should be good for dropping at speed...not that you would want to. If you want pics, let me know. Shogun is a pretty decent deal for what you get.
somebody had the rails on his bike, they seemed to protect the fairing well and it should also protect the frame, if i was you i'd look into the frame rails... check it out http://www.600rr.net/vb/showthread.php?t=57723

Longer sliders tend to end up with their bolts bent in a slide. Think about the leverage and force being applied to a slider when the bike goes down at speed. The plastic things that stick out of the hole in your fairings are called FRAME sliders not FAIRING sliders. Some sliders will stick out real far and if you put the bike on it (at rest), it'll look like you'll have tons of clearance. Only problem is, when they grind down in a slide and the bolt bends, you're going to have not only messed up plastics (in some cases) but a heck of a time trying to pull the bolt out. They save the frame, not the fairing. If you want to save the fairing, get a stunt cage.
i just put woodcrafts on my red '06. i like them. i don't like the ones that stick out really far.

I really support motovation frame sliders. They are long enough to save the fairings in a tip over and lowside and they are beefy enough not to snap. I crash tested the right side a couple weeks ago at deals gap and it barely wore down. If the bike didnt hit the side of the mountain, then the fairing would have been untouched. I plan on getting their spool sliders and bar ends soon.
