Hey guys,


Intend on switching out the oem front/rear brake lines for a SS set on my 2011 600rr, and I noticed after a spirited day of riding that I was beginning to leak (not squirt) fluid from this section of the front brake line system (see photo). It's the hosing directly from the cylinder, before it reaches the lines to the front brake. Given that most SS front brake line sets that I've come across do not offer a SS replacement for this section of the hosing, would anyone know what could be the issue here? I'd like to fix this before I install the new lines and realize I'll have to re-bleed after neglecting to address this leak.


If its a matter of buying a new piece for this section, could someone direct me to where I'd need to get it from? I couldn't find it on the large parts retailers.


Any suggestions would help, thanks guys.

if it's the rubber line from the reservoir to the master cylinder you can buy it from any auto supply place.

make sure its the correct ID (inner diameter) to fit and re-use clamps....Or purchase new clamps at above auto supply place to fit.

you may not need to re-bleed as it's ahead of the active side of the system, easy to suck a bubble through the M/C if new line not completely filled with fluid...

The connection here and at the reservoir sometimes start to seep. Maybe the rubber gets eaten up or expands over time. It's not that unusual. You might be able to get away with just tightening the clamp

It's not technically part of the brake line. Last time I replaced one on an R1 I bought this:

With clear lines you can see any bubbles. And you can keep an eye on the color of your brake fluid. If you use the tinted blue stuff it looks kinda cool.

Just make sure you buy hose made for brake fluid. It apparently eats rubber not made to withstand it.

Nice, thanks guys, I'll start by replacing the rubber hosing and clamp. It seems that the fluid is leaking from the hose, making its way down that plastic connector and onto the rubber ring.
@Bat-1, I like the idea of clear hosing at that location, and thanks for the link!
