Ok on my right front fork i have this build up... its like grease or oil and i have never seen it on any bikes before... my parents both have bikes and i have never seen this and most of friends have no idea either. its like a ring of grease or oil where the shock stops travelling.... not this would not worry me as much if it was on both forks but its only the right side that has it... anyone have this issue or know what the deal is? the bike was bought in april so i still have the 1 yr factory warranty on it and im wondering if i should take it in to get it checked out.... here are some pics of it to show what im talking about....

They are going to give you hell about covering that under warranty. They are going to call it abuse.

ok so i called the dealer to set up an appt to bring my bike there and get it taken care of and i told him that the bike is still under the warranty time frame and asked if it would be taken care of and he said its up to Honda. He said since its a "Wear" item that they use their own discretion to decide whether or not its covered and unless theres a defect like in the tube or the seal itself then they probably wont replace it. And i tried to explain to him that i dont do any type of destructive riding to do this and hurt my front end like that and he shrugged me off saying none of us do sarcastically... wtf am i supposed to do now... this is gonna prolly wind up costing me a pretty penny...

+1, fork seal is giving way. You'll need to get it replaced, and there's no way the dealership or Honda is going to cover it.

There's one way that you can minimize the cost to get it fixed though.... replace the seals yourself or at least take the forks off and ship them to a suspension shop. You could probably have someone like Thermosman or Traxxion replace both seals for less than $200.

well now that its done and said i will post about it... i took it to the dealership which i bought it at here in md and they gave me a bunch of lip about how honda would not replace it unless there was proof i didnt abuse it. well 3 weeks later i finally get my bike back and get a bill for $0.... HOW AWESOME! lol.... i asked the guy about it and he said that there was a rock chip on the tube of the fork and that is what sliced the seal. they sanded it down as best they could and replaced the seals all at cost to honda.... but he said if it fails in the future then ill have to buy new forks and that would not be covered... oh well.... just thought you guys would like to know
