{04 model, 21000kms, no real mods just a RS5 slip-on and LED indicators with an aftermarket flasher coz the OEM on in the clocks doesn't work}

After running fine for weeks, one night after being parked outside a friend's place for a few hours my bike wouldn't start or idle without giving it throttle and was misfiring.
All four coils are giving spark and all four plugs are good.
What I found is that after I disconnected the fuel pump, it started and idled with just the switch like it should (for the few seconds that it still had fuel for of course). I kept starting the bike up until every bit of fuel was out the cylinders, reconnected the pump, and got the same problem as before.
My fuel pump runs instead of just priming but the bike was running fine for over a year like that. And if you watch the video below even though it's a later model, the mic pics up that the fuel pump runs constantly once the bike starts. So unless my model functions differently I'm thinking maybe the coils are somehow losing power because of the pump. Otherwise it's just giving way too much fuel whether that's because of the pump constantly running or something else I don't know.
Really hope someone can help me out here, this bike is my only transport.

WHen the bike was misfiring could you tell from which cylinder? If you feel the header during this misfire it won't get hot like the others. Maybe a bad coil pack, works OK when going but messed up that one time. How long since you have replaced these? If not ever I would.

Something else to consider is bad fuel that one time and caused a bad spark, just depends, hard to tell from just a description.

The coils all seem fine, they're all producing spark.
The problem is not intermittent - I went back and forth between repeated starts without the pump and then trying again with the pump.
Fuel is the same as I've always used.
I don't know the firing order but from the POV of sitting on the bike it's the 3rd from the left.

You have spark on the wire. Are you checking the plug with a screw driver or the spark plug on the end?

Would need to check injectors if that is the case. sonic cleaning may be needed or buy a new one if it's not a whole set.

You have air and spark, only thing left is fuel

I would buy a new coil first and a new plug before sonic cleaning. What's it going to hurt to have an extra wire and plug.

The fuel pump has to run for the bike to run lol. In your video the pump primed, stopped, then ran when the bike was running. What do you expect it to do? It's called a fuel pump, it pumps fuel.



It may be a fuel pressure regulator.

Is there a power commander on the bike?

Yes, I checked the coils with a plug in them against bare metal. All four plugs are good too.
I'm certain over fueling is the problem since without the pump running it starts and idles effortlessly like it should. So while I appreciate your helping me, I disagree with your recommendation.

Why don't you read the post before trying to be smart ass?
Also, the 03/04 models don't have pressure regulators.
