lol there are no screws. come on, i think i would have done that.

theres no ring around the edge that has those screws. it's just the lid that flips when u turn the key. but the b*stard wont flip and the lock is drilled out.

even with the screws out, the cap is locked to the filler opening inside flange.

can u just put a screwdriver in it and turn it to pop it off....the screwdriver would be like a make shift key...other then that i would think u are going to have fun with a drill...

HAHA victory. Thanks for your suggestions and for putting up with my b*tchin and moanin.

I drilled through the little block that holds it under the lip of the tank. then went from the bottom, where the fuel pump goes, and fiddled with the thing until it finally let go of that lip.

the drilled out bottom of the lid

my entry point for poppin it out.

i think now i can start my Rebuild thread somewhere around here...

oh yea i forgot. would it be ok to wash the inside of the tank out with water to get all the drill shavings out? or should i use some other substance? i'm not sure if i should worry about the water rusting the inside or not.

Try to use an air hose to blow them out first instead of water
