i have a 06 cbr600rr and noticed a problem with the gas level. when i went to fill up, it would only let me put in like 1.5 gal. when i started the bike, the gas bars wouldnt go to the top. and right when i would take off, one bar would drop off immmediatly. so i took it to the shop and they said it was the fuel pump level sensor. they had the bike for a week and a half and replaced. i just got it back today and its still doing the same thing. any ideas?

I've had the same issue on my 2008. What I've done is stopped putting the gas nozzle all the way into the tank. I just put the tip of the nozzle in past the little metal retaining ring inside the tank and pump slowly. That way, I get it filled almost all the way to the top before it shuts off and the fuel gauge reads all bars. BTW, pump the gas slowly. This way you get the most amount of fuel per dollar. While it's less of an issue in our small tanks, it really adds up on car fillups. The fuel pumps read and charge based on bulk volume-it doesn't matter whether it pumps air or fuel.

Yesterday, at my local Cycle Gear store, I saw a little foam ring that slips onto fuel nozzles that basically limits the amount the nozzle can go into the fuel tank so it's an issue people are addressing with a product. You can do it for free.
