I've heard that they kick on at 5500 rpms. Can't remember where I read it though.Knightslugger said:Anyone know if the second set of injectors is no all the time, or if it comes on at a certain RPM? I bet that just HAMMERS the MPG...
me too, I think CV stated it one time in one of his threads.Black05rr said:I've heard that they kick on at 5500 rpms. Can't remember where I read it though.
How is this possible???? I'm not calling you a liar but I have done some pretty tame long freeway runs at about 70MPH and still couldn't beat 155 before having to fill up.welldrilleRR said:The 2nd injectors kick in at 8000rpms I believe. I've gone 200 miles on a tank, all freeway, constant 65-70mph.
Good find, I knew it sounded right when you stated it before.Black05rr said:"At lower rpm only the lower injector is working. Above 5500 rpm both injectors are activated."

so THATS why that guy was saying he drives around at like 7k rpms all the time, he wants to be cool and have his second set of injectors pulsing. see, if he would have said that at the start, it would have made perfect sense. :laughing1Black05rr said:"At lower rpm only the lower injector is working. It may look empty but, how many gallons are you putting in? How many gallons did you put in after the highway stint?05'600RR said:How is this possible???? B-T-W I typically fill up at about 115 just to be safe and the tank usually looks close to empty.
All years, this is off an '03 review.alaska cajun said:What year

"at 5500 RPM the Computer activates both fuel injectors to boost top-end power (under 5500, the top injector is shut down, which is how Honda avoids the low-speed, low-gear snatchiness prevalent in so many other machines, like the Suzuki GSXRs"

when you look into the tank you cant see the part of the tank that sits under the seat. go by the fuel you put in, not what you think you see.05'600RR said:How is this possible???? Mine's an '04 - states either 5,000 or 5,500 - can't remember which though.alaska cajun said:It was stated 10,000 on the 03/04
thats why I only get 35...all I do is canyons.roguegeek said:I ride my bike everywhere now and spent a good deal of time watching my mpg. During the week when commuting to work and back (a total of 60 miles per day), I average 45mpg. The weekend in the mountains with more aggressive riding, it easily drops to 35mpg.
Both a sizable drop from the 55mpg I get on my GS500E.
