Has everyone took into consideration the mods dude has on his bike? He may have a smaller sprocket, which would be wierd. and all of our mods on our own bikes. I may get 120 if I am lucky!!!

Really depends on how you ride. If you ride like a noob and keep it down in the RPMs (which I do when commuting) then you can get 40, maybe 42-43 mpg. Best I ever got was 45 mpg. Of course, if you're up in the tach a lot, my worst fuel consumption was about 37 mpg.

The 06 has a 3.9 gallon tank and if I fill up with 2 bars left I will put in, at the most, 2.8 gallons. When I average it out I get about 43 mpg. That is with city driving. I thing that is pretty good mileage. Just a small tank.

i get like 25 miles per gal because i ride it like i stole it and im happy that way
:icon_lol: What's up Randy!

For the record, the upper injectors kick in at 5,500rpm OR 50% throttle position. This is from the service manual.

Gas mileage has way to many variables to compare apples to apples. If you think there may be a problem find a dyno shop w/ an Air/fuel ratio readout and have them run it.

If you look at it, he doesn't seem to be including the reserve.
It's not a REAL reserve....it's all in the same tank.

im sure i could get a 180 miles off a tank all you got to do is shift before you hit 7 grand but why would you do that on a rr. She sounds sexy at 15 grand. i average 135 miles to the tank.
My average speed is 85-100 mph...that's above 7k easily and I make 180 a tank....I am pretty hamfisted.

Mine's an '04 - states either 5,000 or 5,500 - can't remember which though.

220 mi. is B.S. - I get ~150-160 and I ride my bike fairly easily. I could maybe squeeze 180 out of mine, but that would be REALLY pushing it.

Yes 220 mi is B.S. ...............im in Canada and i get 220 KMS on average..........eh.

yeah, i'm pretty sure the 2nd set of injectors are activated at 5.5k rpms for the 05/06 model. it may be different for the 03/04.

Just wanted to pipe in about the 220 miles... ya know what, I believe it. Isn't the tank 4.8 gallons? If he ran it near the ragged edge (like 4.6), that's 47 mpg. Totally feasible.

My vortech blown '95 M3 has 360 hp. I only use it for commutes on crappy weather days, so it sees about 90% freeway. I tend to get about 19 mpg moving pretty fast, averaging like 80. When I drive it like a grandma I might get like 22-23, esp. on long continuous trips with no cold starts. _One time_ though, I did an experiment driving to and from an ex girlfriends place in LA (I'm in San Diego). I got 31 mpg. I was stunned, I couldn't believe it.

I did the following
- stay at 60-70 mph
- stay out of situations where you need your brakes, using engine braking/wind resistance to slow you down
- clutch in on declines
- _very_ light throttle transistions. Someone alluded to it in this thread, but a quick transition causes the engine computer to go pig rich. A jerky throttle makes a huge difference. I esp. know this as I used to custom tune engine management systems.

So in short, you can cruise 70 mph on the freeway, but if you're still kinda erratic in throttle/brake control one can see a very different result in mileage. FWIW
