turn key to ON position and absolutely nothing happens. guage lights dont even come on. fuse is good, terminals are clean and tight. ground is on tight. all harnesses are plugged in and secure. battery is charged and has 12.82 volts at rest and when key is ON. what the hell could be wrong?
BTW ill be gone til sunday but will read post when i get back.
He said his gauge lights won't turn on so that can't be it. I thought about the kickstand having to be up but that wouldn't have anythign to do with the gauges.
there is a 30a main fuse as part of starter/relay switch has heavy wires to battery and starter also check fuses for 12v as fuse e&f are a different supply check all relays pushed home.
First is the bike still in warrenty if so take it to a dealer. 2nd think of what the last thing you did on the bike before this problem happened. If you had any fairings off, did any electrical work, or anything like that. If you havent done any of these things. Then its time to get your multimeter out and start shooting wires. I would start at the ignition switch to rule that out quickley and then work your way from there. Want a quick way to check for a short? Disconnect battery put your multimeter on continuity check and the put your hot lead on a wire that would be normally hot (such as your postive batt. cable) then ground your neg. lead of the multimeter to the frame if you have continuity then you have a short.
