Help with Engine Bolt for Frame Sliders!

1299 Views 7 Replies 6 Participants Last post by  RedrocketOG
I tried to remove the engine bolt on the right hand side of the bike for my frame sliders....I cannot move it no matter what. I have removed the little pinch bolt that tightens the bracket.

Then I held down the washer and tried to take off the screw...no luck...the other side came right off....i dun get it!

is something stuck?

No, there is a nut on the inside. You have to put a wrench on it first to break it loose is a bit tight.
how tight is it? I have the bike on a pitbull and I'm pushing down hard enough with all my weight....Is loosening that nut the only thing that's aggravating me so much?

I had this problem 2 weekends ago when I was installing mine. Have
a wrench hold the inside bolt still up against your frame. And whether you're using a wrench or 10mm alen wrench on the out side frame bolt
find a pipe or anything of that nature in which you can extend your handle
leverage. Go counter clockwise and it should pop right out. Once you
get the inside bolt off and you still have problems getting the frame
bolt out, let me know, I have a little trick to get that puppy out as
well. good luck!

There you go....did you get it off yet?
Yeah, I had this problem too. The nut came right off the back of the bolt and I couldn't get the bolt out. So I used a couple extentions and a hammer from the back side of the bolt to knock it out just a tad. Then I put some vise grips on it and worked it out that way.
i finally did it!

i borrowed a very great set of tools from my friend. This included an much larger socket wrench and the perfect fit allen head. You would not believe this....

I gave it ONE gentle pull and the whole damn thing came off....

lesson learned.......use the right tools and the best tools for the job!
