hey guys

i have an issue with my 06 rr..the other day i fired it up and had the turn signal on and i noticed my resistors were smoking. i took off my tail section and noticed it melted part of a connector and part of each resistor. i decided to cut them out to see what would happen ( i have l.e.d front and rear signals). When i cut them out and turned on a signal they werent flashing.. just solid. I blew a fuse and replaced it thinking that was the problem..I soldered the hack job a mechanic did to the rear turn signals without the resistors and when my left blinker is on its solid ( no flashing) and when i turn the right one on my headlights dim.. WTF did i do wrong!!!

any ideas????

im almost positive your turn signal isnt blinking and remains solid is because you disconnected the resistors. because you have led's in the front and the rear you need a pair of resistors either attach them to the turn signals or the tail light, one for each side blinker. to prevent the over heating from happening again get a flasher relay from customled.com its plug and play and costs about 20 bucks. hope that answers your question.

yeah first make sure they arte wired correctly, second with out proper resistors LED's will look solid but in fact they are flashing so fast that it makes it look that way and the front typical doesn't need resistors from what I have seen, also what size resistors do you have on there? ask tripage what size you need I know but Im at work so I cant look at the moment

Your headlights should not dim that means you have a huge current draw and something is wrong you need to trace it back and start over before you do more damage you may have already cooked your headlight turnsignal switch!

Yea, What he said! Don't just start trying things, Unhook all the turn signals and re-wire each one correctly.

ok ill have to take everything off and re-do it. I have another problem tho..one of my connectors is melted pretty bad, the male and female side are pretty much melted together.. ill take a pic today and show u guys. do I have to buy a new wiring harness? or can i buy more connectors?

I prefer to have all the factory connectors in tact but if its melted, I'd cut off the connector and just solder to the main wiring harness.

Without the connector, everything will function the same, you just lose the ability to easily unhook the signal.

its a f#$%ing hack job that im not impressed with.. anyways here is the pic.

you need a multi meter with the wires apart . you need to determine what wire is the lead ( ie has power on it when you turn on the blinker) this will be your positive . wire the leds the way they should be there sensitive to what way power goes through them . the resitors are only there to slow down the rate of the blink they will not cause it to stay lit all the time. although a melted blinker relay will and wiring up the wrong wire to the front blinkers will also ( the wire for the running lite in the front will ) . if your at the front of the bike you have a ignition positive voltage all the time a voltage pulse your blinker lead and a ground check for continuity to ground you need this to make it work . at the rear you have a voltage pulse for the blinker no ignition positive since there is no running light in the back and a groung remeber the leds are sensitive to the direction of voltage . and as far as making the blink rate correct go check out the blinker relays from customeled.com

so the third wire for the front signals is used for it to stay lit all the time?

correct you do not wire that one up just tape it off . the front will only lite up when they blink . there is some company that makes ones that work as running lights to but most do not

yeah thats what i figured.. i still can't figure out what the f***in deal is with the rear and why its causing problems.. im 90% sure i wired it up the same way as it was before i took the resistors off

only way to be 100% is to get a meter and check it
