Would a weak battery cause the HID to flicker and turn off and on briefly?
The HID is fine at neutral but seems to be twitching.
But while riding, the HID will flicker and then turn off and back on again at certain times during the ride.
Could this be due to a weak battery?

I double checked to make sure all the connections were fine.
Also, when I have both headlights on, they would flicker and shut off/on at the same time so I doubt it's the ballasts or bulbs....
Thanks for the help!

Having a bit of a run on HID issues at the moment...

Could be caused by a few things, check the battery voltage with the bike running (5k rpm lights on), if its below 14V then your issue may be with the R/R or stator.

Had battery and bike charging system all tested.... voltages are all perfect
switched the ballast to known perfect working ones and problem still persists

Could it be that 55w HID kits are just too much for bikes?? or the HID kits can't stand vibration?
weird part is this problem doesn't occur until ~10mins into riding...

55W is not to much, it is standard. Vibration is also less likely to be an issue with HIDs compared to incandescent globes as there is no filament to vibrate, however if it is a cheap kit then its quite possible.

If it only occurs after you have been riding for ten minutes it may be heat related, try moving the ballast and controllers to a cooler spot.

Not to thread jack or anything but im having the same or similar problem.. I installed my hid about a month and a half ago and they have been working fine.. the other day i took off the front to rearange some wires and since putting it back together it has flickered and shut off around 5k+ rmps. Just sitting the lights are fine but once i start moving and get to around 6k they start flickering and the faster i go the more the flicker.. its like a strobe light.. any ideas.?

More than likely a loose connection, disconnect everything and reconnect it again.

so I switched the bulbs and still no luck....
I also noticed that when both headlights lights are on, they flicker then go out at the same time which is really strange.
Possibly cause by too much voltage fluctuation?
Also, can't get then to flicker and turn off while at a stand still or idling.... only while riding

Check it out with a multimeter, set to the ac range. Should be bugger all there.

Alright so I bought a new battery and still no luck...... what a waste!!
But I did notice that while riding on the highway this doesn't seem to be a problem.
It only occurs roughly 15mins during stop and go traffic riding for so weird reason.

I still think the common issue with the 55W HIDs is heating of the ballast...

Try putting it in a location that has a lot of air around it and no heat sources, ie no where near the engine, exhaust or radiator.

I actually made a mistake, it's a 35w kit.
I had a spare set from my car and just read the box and it says 35w.
Maybe I need to try a digital ballast.... I still think it's the voltage fluctuations because I notice that when you rev the bike the turn signals and gauge cluster also slightly increase/decrease in brightness
