Okay so for a while iv been having on and off problems with the 55wHID's - They where installed into the stock wiring harness and not directly too the battery as iv read some have done... have had these for about a year, no melting, no fogging etc - generally I run them dual, starting only with low beam on ignition.

My time to work on the bike is limited with it being winter, about 0 outside, dark about an hour after I get home from work.

Issue im having is they are now flickering, both sides and dont turn on, I thought maybe my battery is not producing the required power to ignite them, but I have an aftermarket LED rear indicators and rear led taillight with a LED regulator installed into the wiring hardness (this is working and doing its job)

When i move the led regulator about in the wiring harness the HID's fire up, the wires are definately in tight and making connection.

Im near sure both ballists are okay, both bulbs are okay since they do fire on movement, have i possibly just too much power draw from a 55w set of hids? - altho this is a year on after them working okay...considering getting a 35w set (after a quick clean of the wires and swap off around of the ballists).

Have you checked the wires to the start switch??? Click on my username and loom at all the threads I've started and posted on for headlights and you may find your answer in the threads... Sounds like you are having the same issues I had...

Have you checked the wires to the start switch??? Click on my username and loom at all the threads I've started and posted on for headlights and you may find your answer in the threads... Sounds like you are having the same issues I had...

Yeah have previously checked the wires before, both wires where soldered in tight, the lights seem to respond okay when starter switch is flicked

35 watt will definitely fire up easier in very cold weather compare to 55 watt, especially if your battery is having issues. HID's consume large amounts of power to get them going then drop off to less than stock once they are running.

i have these 35 watters in stock. ive used them on all my hondas for 10+ years without issue.

I actually have my old car 35watt bulky HID box, will try that and see if there is any improvement.. Shame if I cant keep the 55w as they are BRIGHT, its the inconsistancy that doesnt make sense with the wiring, if its tight its tight, how can a wiggle (of the LED regulator) fire them up (from a flicker!) (unless maybe it momentarily allows more power to the lights, from the LED regulator/LEDS at rear)

Then I read this which is a possibility but cant confirm what mine are

"Please note some copy version of DC ballasts that can get unstable flickering light,
and the life of ballast about three time shorter that AC ballasts,
The DC ballast also can damage HID bulb"

As a side note, once my lights ignited fully, I could turn bike on and off and they would be fine, they must be warm. But when returning to bike after cold, they wouldnt ignite without pissing about with wires.

Years ago when I was using DC ballasts I always had flicker issues but after I swapped them out with AC ballasts I have had zero flicker issues since. I have AC ballasts in 3 motorcycles and 2 cars with zero flickering issues.

It actually sounds like your ballasts are on the way out. It's not uncommon for them to act spotty for a bit, then get worse before dying altogether.

After 3 and a half hours out in the cold I got it sorted. Friging awquard having numb fingers, doing electrical work!! at near 0 degrees argh.,...Took alot of troubleshooting, using 2*35w Ballists + bulbs and swapping the 55w ballists around etc... still no joy so had a look at the blue wiring loom where the LED relay is connected too.

I have no idea why this is relevant too the Front Lights/ballists as they dont seem to be connected but there when you split the blue wiring loom in 2 (unpluging it) there are metal pins on the inside, they looked fine, (previously pressing the loom slightly the HID's came too life) I moved 1 of the pins what must have been microns and reconnected the wiring loom plug and whola! no flickering and the HID's 55w came back to life on stock headlight wiring.. hope this atleast helps someone else with similar probs :) - Must have came loose when installing the LED relay, albeit HIDs where working after install..

Still... How is those pins relevant to headlight wires?? 3rd wire up, green/white that the LED relay plugged into
