HOT weather gear, what do you use?

Just a question... I'm looking to get some new summer gear, and where I live (South Texas) it easily gets into the high 90s and low 100s. What do you guys reccommend that doesn't get too hot, yet offers some protection? I need to get a new jacket, helmet, and pair of gloves.

Well for SOME protection, you could always go with the Joe Rocket Phoenix mesh jacket. There are also Phoenix gloves, not sure if they are mesh or not.
I wear perferated leather jacket, Perferated leather gloves, and Tourmaster mesh pant.
Joe Rocket mesh stuff is what I wear, no coplaints here.
i just wear my wife beater, some shorts, and sometime i'll wear sandals... but most of the time, i wear my etnies or vans tennis shoes, i wear the A* smx gloves, and my helmet...

i just learn from the best

How would you guys compare the Icon Ti-Mesh textile jacket to the J.R. Phoenix 3.0? And the Icon Superduty gloves, Icon Tarmax gloves, and the J.R. Pheonix 2.0 gloves? Oh, and what's a good vented helmet?

I wear the Fieldsheer Mach 2 jacket. It is cheaper than the JR and has better armor. It has leather in the vital areas and a removeable liner too.

Here in NM it gets pretty hot and last summer i bought fieldsheer titanium air jacket and pants. they zip together with about a 6in zipper in the back.
pretty sweet

Exact same setup that I have. I love it.
I have the Joe Rocket alter ego. Its a waterproof jacket, but remove the liner and its a textile. Unzip the textile part and its a mesh. Pretty cool setup but for a summer only jacket, check out firstgear's mesh tek jacket. Its the shat.
perferated full suit. anything else in my opinion is a waste of money and time and lacks the protection you need, unless you only ride to the store and back
p.s. I have the JR Phoenix gloves and they are a pretty good value for the money. Great for hot days.

Yeah man, I got tattoos and the last thing I want is to be scrapping them off the road if I go down.

Better safe than sorry.

ps. I am thinking about maybe shelling out the extra cash for a S-MX Air-Flo rather than a Venom. Hmmmmmmm...
I would like to get leather, but it gets in the 100s down here., plus it's not a dry heat... it's very humid. My original plan was to get perf leather, but one of my friends who rides said if I get that, I probably won't wear it... considering summer weather is most of the year.

I'm looking at the fieldsheer stuff... you think they're better than the icon or JR?
fieldsheer is good quality stuff, its as good as JR or better in my opinion.

Also, you'll hear leather this and leather that all day but I don't know anyone who is gonna wear it on a 90+ degree day and at the same time, have fun riding. Buy what you know you will wear no matter what the weather, distance, etc. Example: Jeans and JR phoenix mesh pants are not nearly as safe as leather pants but I wouldn't wear leather pants on a hot humid ass Tennessee day to make a beer run...know what I mean?

Stick with your original plan get the leather. I had originally bought a textile for summer riding aswell, but after I got my 2-piece TZ-1 suite, I wear the leather jacket all the time. It is a little uncomfortable when you're just standing around, but when you're on the bike it's not bad at all. Plus I just picked up some UnderArmour and that stuff is AWESOME!!! It has an amazing way of converting mositure to coolness... it was 80+ today and normally if i was just standing around i would have broken a sweat, but today wearing the UnderArmour under my jacket, it felt like i wasn't even wearing the jacket. I was extreamly comfortable... GO LEATHER & UNDERARMOUR UNDERNEATH!!!
