So OEM parts are available from places like partzilla, if you added up the cost of every single individual part you would need to assemble a brand new bike from a favorite year like 2008 how much would it cost and why hasn’t anyone done this?
I want some wealthy enthusiast with too much money to buy every single part, assemble them, and have a brand new 2008 cbr600rr in 2020. I’m dying to know how much it would cost compared to its original price.
This is done with DeLoreans after people bought up the warehouses of original parts after the company went out of business in the ‘80s.

it would cost many many many many times the original price. so much so that nobody would ever even consider it.

there isn't a single special thing about a 2008 cbr 600rr.

if you're feeling adventurous, go to partzilla or ronayers or whatever, and fill your cart. i wouldn't be surprised if you got up near 70 or 80k when it was all said and done.

Spare parts is where the money is made. They are usually marked up minimum of 300% to 1000's of %. Have fun and let us know when you have the answer!

Long ago there was a piece in Dirt Bike magazine about the cost of a motocross bike parts list. It was about six times the price of a complete motorcycle.

Frame, engine, fairing, and wheels is already at the cost of a brand new 2019 bike. Great idea, but I'll just go buy a new bike with everything already assembled. Even for the wealthy, they would still rather spend the money to buy a used bike and restore versus building it from scratch. They don't get to be wealthy for being dumb with their money.
