This is a quick write up on how to install the PSR rear brake reservoir on 07-08 CBR 600RR models. First thing to look at is if you have aftermarket rearsets. If you do there is a good chance you will have to grind some of the heel guard off (1-2mm) on the backside. If you do not want to do this then I don't recommend the PSR res. If that's not a problem read on!:thumbup:

Before you move on make sure you understand how to bleed your brakes as that will be required at the end. Here is a how to on that:

Tools needed:
Phillips Head screwdriver
Allen Wrench/key(I think it was a 4 or 5)
Shop rags
Dremel or other small portable grinder with grinding attachment
All the tools needed for brake bleeding

1. Disconnect the OEM rear brake res and dump out the fluid
2. Bleed the brakes
3. Remove the phillips head bolt that connects the brake res line to the master cylinder and remove the attachment. Have shop rags handy as some residual brake fluid make drip out. DO NOT LET BRAKE FLUID GET ON PAINT OR PLASTICS!
4. If the O-ring came out with the hose take that off as it will be used with the PSR res. You can buy a new O-ring if you wish. If you reuse it check for splits/cuts in the O-ring to ensure you don't have any leaks.
5. Place the O-ring on the PSR res or in the master cylinder and push the res on.

6. Check to see if the bolt hole lines up with the master cylinder hole. If you are in luck and the bolt installs you don't have to modify your rearsets at all. If it's an OEM rearset you can probably get away with just bending the heel guard out to get the extra mm you need. In my case I have vortex rearsets and had to grind some of the back of the reatset off.



If you do have to do any grinding make sure both holes on the master cylinder are blocked off. You don't want to get metal shavings in your master cylinder.

7. Once you have got it bolted on go ahead and check to see if your brake line will fit between the top of the res and the locating tab on the master cylinder.



In my case it did not so I had to get the dremel back out and grind some of the locating tab off. Again make sure holes are covered! This is what it looks like when finished.



All that is left now is adding fluid and bleeding your brakes! As you can see I had both aftermarket lines and rearsets. One other member (Dynarex) had OEM lines and still had to grind the locating tab. You might get lucky and not have to do any of that.

Just wondering how the PSR reservoir is going? Have you had any issues with leakages or anything?

I'm tossing up between a PSR or a G-craft. I like the fact the PSR has the window so am leaning slightly more towards that at the moment.

Haven't had road time on it yet. My PCV comes this week so this weekend will be the first time I get it on the road more than just up and down the street. I've pumped the brakes multiple times after I bled them just to make sure the line hasn't gone soft and no issues

Thread revival!

I'm planning on getting one of these, and noticed they don't come in black. Would it be possible to have it powder coated or is that a bad idea (and why?)? If it's safe, I'm just going to get whatever colour is in stock and have it PCed black.

They are anodized so you would have to get it anodized. Now if you paint or PC it it will chip but you might get lucky and it'll be fine.


Ps I have near 2k miles up and no problems still looks great and works a charm.

Why didn't you just space out the heel guard with a couple little washers?
You could but you would also have to space the pivot bolt at the back of the brake lever in order to keep the M/C in line. Because there is a safety pin on that bolt, I'm not sure if there is the room to do it.

I just installed mine and had to grind the locating tab to get the brake line on the M/C. I also put a set of Spiegler SS brake lines on and added some speed bleeder screws.
