the reason you are coming down is your either not high enough, and letting off the throttle too much, you want to twitch your wrist pretty much when you shift, and you need to at least get to or as close as you can to balance point! but i would just work on getting on up there and not worry about shifting, it looks alot better!

i can ride them at bq for a long time but i just wanna learn how to shift while in a wheelie. just trying something new for me. so when i shift do i hold down the clutch and shift or do just shift up w/out using it? i try using clutch but everytime i let go of my clutch the bike go down and i cant seem to bring it up again once it go down.
yeah i think i let my throttle go too much.

when i started to try and wheelie i was having trouble also. a mate of mine just seemed to pick it up straight away. i mean he just lifted the front end and pulled a minger straight away. sickened me no end. i ask how he did it and it worked for him and with practice it worked for me too.

clutch it up in 2nd, first is too much too aggressive. then the trick is to apply pressure to the gear lever, as in try and change gear. because you are still accelerating the gear box is under load and therefore wont change, when you start to rev out you need to be right up there. at this point like tmoney1 said just twitch you wrist, dont twist it it will be too much. because you take the load off the gearbox it will now change gear, there is no need to use the clutch, because you were up there you should of only dropped a bit, and because you only twitch you dont loose that much hight either. then repeat the process till you are doing a 140 mono in forth.

hope this helped you like it did me.

that goes to show you how everyone is diff. and how they ride and feel comfortable! i couldnt get a 2nd gear it down off the ground on stock gearing... stand ups easily, but sit downs a diff story... on stock gearing all my wheelies were in first... so if you can do them in 2 more power to you.... and it is all practice and seat time... practice till you think you could do it in your sleep then practice in your sleep!!!!

shifting while coming up is gonna pause you from coming up i would think, ive never tried it... but i mean on wheelies when you are first learning, you are gonna get them up and it feels like your really far back, and it will scare you but as you keep learning you realize where you were scared a week ago is where you want to be then it will continue... and the balance point on a rr is super high!!! hope i could help you!!!

+1 Although its cool in concept....theres no real need...1st gear for 20 blox.
+2, no need to shift if you can rock BP. i can ride 'em out for miles in 2nd gear. think my longest is like 5 miles, i'm old and get tired.

yea... no need to ever shift in a wheelie

and you dont even want to attempt shifting in one until you can pull in the clutch in the middle of one....

also, try staggared stand ups. left foot on passenger peg, right COVERING the brake

i can ride one for a while but just wanna know the concept of shifting while in a wheelie. but staggared stand up work very well but my bike tend to wobble from side to side. kinda scary though.
thats becuase your being to choppy with the throttle... smooth it out

and you should never need to shift so dont worry about it

nvm... im not chopping throttle. all im asking for is the technic to shift. i know how to ride at bp. but i wanna so just in case i wanna accelerate. but nvm cuz all im gettin is "no need to shift"
if you want to accelerate, the let it go below balance so you speed up then bring it back up to balance........

and wobbles = choppyness.... end of story. wasnt trying to argue or start anything its just a fact
